Winter Affordability Support Scheme

@meldrewreborn
Yes, there still is time. However, the cold weather does not wait for anyone. We need this special tariff now.
I just have to hope that something will be put in place very soon.
Using hot water bottles currently… -
@Prettyeyez
If they intend running the offer this year, they will directly contact eligible customers rather than make a public announcement. But energy prices are about the same currently as they were with the 25% discount last year and significantly lower than they were two years ago, so I suspect they won't be repeating what was essentially a 'one time offer'.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons. -
@garyfrog there is a winter support scheme this year but it seems you are only eligible for £250 credit if you are in debit.
Can Eon Next confirm this?.
I received last year's scheme as a vulnerable customer reliant on my electricity for life saving medical equipment and very ill health.
Just because I can not allow my account to go into debit and risk my energy being cut off I am not eligible.
I use the very minimum electricity to stay with in my direct debit and can not afford to turn my heating on. My ill health is really suffering with no heating on. I am confined in bed most of day with a heated pad.
I think this is an extremely unfair assessment for the scheme.
I really sympathise for those who are genuinely in debit. However I am sure there are others who put their life styles above paying energy bills. It seems it doesn't matter how/ why you are in debit you get awarded £250 credit.
Really annoying -
I contacted Eon requarding winter support scheme as I knew nothing about it.after much tooing and froing of emails,I got a sorta straight answer.you have to be in debt with Eon to get help,I myself am on priority list due to disabilities and am low income,but as I'm a payg customer and can't physically get in debt ,no help.i have passed on feedback to Eon to say they should look into how they give out help a little differently

@Donnalou
This support scheme is shrouded in secrecy because the eligibility criteria are not published. Clearly those on PAYG cannot get into any significant debt, so IF being in debt were a part of the criteria that would indeed be unfair. But a bit like the Royal Family, the Government and now it seems MI5, the policy is often "to never confirm and never deny" allegations.
The scheme was only ever to benefit 1% of customers, so very limited indeed , but still of help to those in receipt of it. That means 99% of customers miss out, in fact that 99% will be paying for the benefits given under the scheme. You don't think the company or the government are paying - do you?
@HelenaP_EONNext Can you confirm that being on PAYG isn't a bar to receiving assistance under the scheme? A simple YES or NO answer is all that is required.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless. -
I can only confirm what I was told in an email.i apologise if I wrote something I shouldn't of,I was only relaying what was in my reply.i understand about the secrecy surrounding criteria,as I couldn't find anything reguarding this no matter where I looked,hence why I e-mailed and asked.

@Donnalou Hello, welcome to the community! 😊
I understand that eligible customers for the winter support scheme will be contacted directly, although there is still lots of support out there for our customers! Have you seen our latest thread Our community in action: Affordability and Vulnerability over winter!, this thread provides details on the extra support available over the winter period!
There is also the thread Priority Services Register that details extra support for those on the PSR! 🙂
@meldrewreborn That's a good question! I have looked into this and being a PAYG customer wouldn't be a prevention to being eligible on the scheme🌲 “Nature is the source of all true knowledge.” – Leonardo da Vinci 🌲
Need a little extra support when it comes to billing and payments? Check out the thread ✨ Changes to your E.ON Next payments, how can we help? ✨
