Energy Shift Winter 2023/2024

Nothing here eitherI'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit. -
So seems the current scoring on invites/participation in EON DFS so far.
Yes 1, No 11
I checked my SPAM folder just in case. Still no invite.
Also looks like EON still keeping it a private event.
@Actual I reckon you will have an invite if you only expect 2p payments.Last edited by StillWaiting; 21-11-23 at 11:35.

Slight problem though 😳.
Meters not communicating to the DCC at the moment 😞.

Hmmm...
@Han_EONNext Will trouble makers be invited or are dissenters banned?
Sorry to possibly disappoint all of you but I moved to a house with Economy 7 from Octopus Unit rate (day) 62.43p /kWh Unit rate (night) 33.71p /kWh which was a bit of shock compared to my previous 20.102p per kWh Eon Next pre energy crisis fixed rate. Anyway this made charging the PHEV a tad expensive.
Due to my E7 and dual rate Eon Next and many energy suppler wouldn't touch me until I defected to British Gas who I was able to game into fitting a smart meter. I have now converted to British Gas Electric Driver v2 Peak unit rate (5am-12am) 30.93p per kWh Off Peak unit rate (12am-5am) 8.95p per kWh so the overnight washing and drying is cheaper rate too. British Gas do half price Elec on Sundays and their DFS deal is called Peak Save.Last edited by Connor_EONNext; 23-11-23 at 09:39.

@Actual
May the energy gods shine more favourably for you with British Gas than the other suppliers you have been with recently. 😁 -
@Actual
I’m encouraged that the retail energy market is becoming more competitive, as indicated by your posts. I just wonder why other suppliers didn’t want your business.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and think the smart meter programme is a waste of our money. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless. -
@WizzyWigg
normally smart meters going dumb doesn’t affect your bills - but inability to save through these initiatives does. -
It was inflexibility of suppliers systems and processes.
The house I moved to had a dual rate meter on Economy 7 with Octopus. There was no separate Economy 7 circuit or appliances so the whole house was either daytime peak or night time economy. Unit rate (day) 62.43p /kWh Unit rate (night) 33.71p /kWh. Ouch
Octopus could not convert to a single tariff.
Eon Next would not allow a switch.
British Gas did allow a switch and I switched but I couldn't get a smart meter installed so I ordered an isolation switch which was fitted in a week and I sweet talked the engineer to fit a smart meter. I then switched to a single rate tariff.
I then wanted to sign up to an Electric Vehicle tariff but I was on the NEW British Gas system and it couldn't be done. Eventually I signed up to British Gas Electric Driver v2 Peak unit rate (5am-12am) 30.93p per kWh Off Peak unit rate (12am-5am) 8.95p per kWh with no leaving penalty.
The main downside is that for convenience we stay up until midnight to plug in both PHEV cars and start the dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Thankfully the load is spread over two 32Amp ring final circuits.
I still have my old house with Eon Next so I signed up to #PowerSwitch tonight.
I still here.
