Octopus are holding an event from 1730-1830 on 16th November it seems. I expect the Eon Next email servers will be busy very shortly. The hamsters are about to be fed. 😁
Some participants go from 1700-1800 confirmed by NGESO
Edit: Eon Next is a DFS registered participant again confirmed by NGESO in this list.
EON will have to change their web page if they don't get organsied soon.
This winter E.ON Next customers saved 0.0 kWh of energy during our events. That’s enough energy to watch a 50W TV for 0 seconds.
I would have expected some feedback from the moderators by now.
If you look at the source code for the page, those figures are dynamically populated from back-end data. Until there is any back-end data, the figures are not going to change.
Also rather misleading showing how long you can run a TV for. The definition of shifting is moving usage from one time period to another. The same amount of consumption is used, but at different times. If it was about energy saving, then it becomes more relevant. I can easily save the equivalent of running a 50W TV for an hour by, er, not running a 50W TV for an hour. If I shift that usage to a different hour, it saves nothing.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
What was the criteria to be one of the 10,000, looks like I didn't make it. Did anyone?
Although being a conspiracy theorist, they could put any number there. How would we check, unless all 10,000 confirm they have received an email. (I just sent out 10,000 emails, prove me wrong!)
"But don’t worry - we plan for more customers to join the scheme over the coming days / weeks, with a plan to launch a register your interest on our website further down the line"
So you still have to be invited over the coming days/weeks with a register your interest when, in months?
What was the criteria to be one of the 10,000, looks like I didn't make it. Did anyone?
Not many customers will - comfortably less than 1%.
I believe Eon/Eon Next have 6.5m customers so assuming 50% have smart meters there will be (10000/3250000)*100 %chance of being selected. That percentage is 0.3% so I make that what 1 in every 300 or so!
More chance of winning on the lottery than being one of the 10,000 🤣
TBH with 'rewards' being so wretched I'm inclined to join Bright/Ivie and see how I fare this winter with a 'draw' reward (last winter my total rewards came to £12 although the last month in March 23 is more representative (£1) of what each month this winter might be due to the revised rules and my usage patterns.
Just checked my inbox today and it looks like Eon Next have finally got going. So my invitation email arrived at 1100 today on 17/11/23. I've reposted something I saw over at MSE today about the rewards which is interesting. Am awaiting confirmation that this is indeed correct.
