@BruceM Hey, I just wanted to check in and find out more around your situation 😊

Do you provide manual readings or is your smart meter providing regular readings? Are you on a specific tariff? 🤔

I may be being naive, but why does this matter?

Looking back I see most statements have been the 29th or 1st of month with the odd mid-month one. Sometimes gas only, sometimes electric only.

However, the 1 thing I care about - £129 leaving my bank account - happens on the 1st every month.

i guess if you pay on receipt of bill then this might be annoying, but probably another incentive to go the direct debit route.

    Why does it matter?

It matters because EON said it would be no problem to be billed the 1st or there abouts 2nd, 3rd depending if a weekend not sure why an automated system can't bill on a Saturday or Sunday, but that's another issue. The carp EON app works on a month to month starting on the 1st I'd like my bills to match up with the app as much as possible for stab in dark accuracy. My gas is billed on the 1st of month or thereabouts no problem, its the electric bill seems to be generated randomly every 3 weeks or less. Every time I ask why its always system error or a meter post commissioning check or some other made up reason. Ever time I am told that's it sorted and it wont happen again. My "complaint handler" will monitor my billing to ensure it doesn't happen they dont and it does. Why do they blatantly make stuff up? Not sure what the purpose of opening a complaint is as I see no record of a resolution, if one is even opened.

EON can randomly bill me and take money out of account when they feel like it despite it supposed to be a monthly bill, yet I can only get a SEG payment every 3 months.

    Cynic / Realist hat on:
They say what they think you want to hear.
See also: politicians, estate agents etc.

As you’ve found out, the reality is that they can and will bill when convenient for themselves.

Try a complaint, but even voting with your wallet would doubtful make a difference.

I think you'll find it could be something due to the way they read/process the ½ hourly readings for the Drive tariff. I joined in July '23 and my Gas was billed promptly on the bill date (they just take the previous months gas total from the current reading for billing)

However I waited for about 10 weeks before eventually calling to get my first (separate) electricity bill generated, and then had to call a couple of times to get subsequent ones produced. It took until December (5 months) before they started coming on a regular basis, included with the gas, but sometimes are still produced separately at a later date. Another friend on Next Drive also didn't receive electric bills when he first joined.

So whilst one would expect it to be a fully automated system, I'm sure that there's an element of human intervention involved to check the bills before they get produced. There do sometimes appear to be gaps in the raw download meter data (this is from Glowmarkt - so maybe EOn experience the same issue) which don't get populated until after the billing date. So my guess is this is why the electric bill is occasionally produced separately (This wouldn't explain why yours are sometimes produced early).

Looking at your forum post history, it looks like you joined Next Drive at the end of last year or early this year, so maybe it will settle down to a more regular billing period eventually in the near future.
