I’m on the Next Flex Tariff, no smart meter. I submitted a meter reading in October, and another at the end of March. I just received a bill for the period 30 Jan – 1 Mar that’s more than 3× my usual charge, with confusing reverse charges included.
Here’s what’s on the bill (all estimated):
- Electricity:
29772.2 → 29903.7 (131.5 kWh @ 26.120p/kWh + 31 days standing charge)
£50.38 - Gas:
61488.3 → 61518.3 (30.1 m³ / 333.3 kWh @ 6.422p/kWh + 31 days standing charge)
£33.73
However, my actual meter readings taken end of March are:
- Electricity: 30134 → usage for March = 230.3 kWh
- Gas: 61728 → usage for March = 209.7 kWh
From this, I expected a bill about 20% higher than usual, not triple. Has anyone had a similar issue or knows what could be causing this? Could the reverse charges or estimate logic be throwing this off?
Thanks for any help.
