@Andy65 This is my drawback to the public charging.
There is a company in China who does drive in battery swaps, you lease the battery, drive in and it takes 5 mins and drive out.
Just pottering around town the concept is great for us, however the long journeys are what concern me.
We have the car for another couple of years, things may improve.

@JoeSoap No need to apologize, we knew when we popped this out that this would/could happen and every comment is a valid point, honestly I have had a few days off and come in to a ton of notifications and messages, I love it, thank you all!
@Andy65 If my Grand dad was still with us, I think when we said the same, he might have raised an eyebrow or 2 that's for sure. He used to pick us up in his Cutlass 442, he was obviously super old school and loved American Cars.
I used to get travel sick in a few of his cars when I was little, when I look back, it's crazy how far vehicles have changed over the years. I think we will always go back to the public charging and the improvements that are needed, for me that is anyway.
It's important for me to add, this is a lease too, so it's not like we've gone out and spent £30k on an EV.
@Lee_EONNext There's a channel on Youtube about life with an EV, solar etc. A year ago he visited the 10 nearest public rapid chargers to his home to see how many were working. 6 out of 10 were not working, he's just done the same exercise and 4 out of 10 are not working, at least two are that aren't working have been off line for a year. I'm not sure that really counts as much of an improvement, another gripe he has is that apps such as Zap Map still show them as working.
His view is that part of the problem is that Councils pay to have them installed, they're run by a particular network but if there's a problem the Council don't have the funding (or desire?) to have them put back on line. What would worry me is whether the charger near my destination is working, if it isn't then the next option isn't likely to be close which means more driving and greater worry.

That's why PHEV hybrid is the way to go - if most of your usage is local you can drive totally Electric, but then have no range anxiety on longer journeys (and if driving conservatively will have regenerated enough electricity to have pollution-free driving at your destination)
Also the cost of public (certainly motorway) charging is astronomic - recent report was 75p per kWh - that's over 8 (yes eight) times the cost of home charging!
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
@Andy65 This is exactly my concern, it was touch and go on our long journey, luckily there was one of those service stations that was purely EV chargers, there were tons of them.
They had the standard 7.4kw, 22kw's, 50kw's and 120kw's so a quick half hour we were at full power and on our way. It's definitely something that needs improving for the concept to work.
Looking back at the time we got the lease and lessons learned, bigger battery and have the home charger in place from the start.
