I'm on a good fix for gas at the moment but it runs out in October. I can't get a better deal at the moment but the 24 month fix would increase my unit price by 0.8p per kWh, while my standing charge will go down (!). Based on my usage in the period between now and October, I would pay an extra £5 in unit charges, offset by a reduction of £2 in standing charges. In other words a switch now would cost me £3, but give me a price fix for 24 months.
With goings on in the middle east , my thinking is that gas prices might well be on the way up, so waiting till October might cost me dear. On the other hand once I've got a fix I could easily swap to a cheaper fix if one emerges later - although this tariff comes with a hefty £100 exit fee per fuel, and that might be a sticking point.
I've looked through the T&Cs and can't find any reference to there being no exit fee if I remain with Eon Next but on a different tariff. Can anyone explain why such an important piece of information isn't stated more clearly ? Or perhaps times have changed and our old assumptions don't apply any longer?
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and think the smart meter programme is a waste of our money. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
Only if you click on "show full tariff information" AND then scroll down the "about this tariff" page do you get the important information I was looking for!
So now that issue is resolved, I think I'll be switching Gas only tomorrow. Risk management I call it.

@WizzyWigg. Yes that’s great but that didn’t appear on the page I looked at via my account. So the messaging is inconsistent in different part of the website.
@meldrewreborn Sounds like they need to employ a Website Proofreader, if such a person exists, to check all the important info is correct and in it's right place. 🙄
Hey @meldrewreborn Thank you for your feedback 😊 Was this information not showing when you checked your quote via your online account? What route did you take to obtain the quote? Is it the Next Fixed 24m v31 you were looking into? 🤔

I went into my account and went to my tariff and after excluding flex I looked at the 12 month and 24 month fixed options. As I could see £100 exit fee with no caveats, I trawled through the full terms and conditions although these seem to apply to all tariff and all payment methods. I’ll see if I can take an image tomorrow.

@meldrewreborn - done it for you👍 : if you view the details.....
1) in the app, the first page does show "if you change supplier"
2) but from the website you're correct - there's no mention of this
3) however if you drill down to details it does show it
4) you get a similar drilldown display in the app too
thank you for that. I think that if you are going to have an exit charge, you should make it crystal clear exactly how it would be operated. I knew that there would likely be a waiver if one stayed put, but as it was not given prominence I was not prepared to go ahead. And I’m more knowledgeable than most customers - I 🤔.
