New SEG Application

    Hello everyone!

My solar installation was completed a few weeks ago and I received the installer's handover pack a week ago. That provided me with all the information needed for the Eon SEG application so I went ahead and completed the on-line application including my MCS certificate number, DNO approval and a photo of my smart meter reading for export. This was accepted and a new account appeared in my Eon app.

Yesterday I received my new Export MPAN number from the DNO. As I've read about people waiting for long periods while the Export MPAN is sitting in limbo I sent the new MPAN to Eon via the hi@eonnext email.

What is the best way to ensure that this email gets to the right people in the SEG team?

Hopefully the MPAN number is the last piece in the puzzle and it won't be long now.

I'm looking forward to exporting some sunshine to the grid and getting a paid for it!

I hope the meter money people sort you out fairly and promptly. Saving carbon dioxide and billed £ doesn't have to wait.
I was in yesterday, and nearly all of the electricity which I used was inside the locally generated daytime solar off the roof. You can see a bite out of the top of the lower "export" bar chart where I was cooking and using the kettle for a while around midday, without ever going into dirty bought electricity. You can save bills as much as I do with locally generated locally used electricity, and you don't have to wait for the metering department to get their bit done.

I don't know how it works with MPAN numbers and stuff, but if they can't read it automaticly except for the smart metering by-the-day, you ought to be owed (?) for the units already exported over the past few weeks from installation up until they get an MPAN number to automate meter reading and payments. You can already open your meter cupboard, see it on the LCD screen (some brands of smart meter require that you press a 'next' button and others cycle through showing different things) and yours should be able to show on its LCD screen IMPORT (kWh), which is exactly a usual meter number, and EXPORT (kWh) which in the same units is what you've generated, exported, and not yet been paid for. It might even be worth sending a smartphone photo of that export number with your next email to the people who've been finding it slow and difficult to register you for automatic meter reading. I have no idea what they'll say.

    Thanks @wizzo227
I'm also doing my best to consume some of my solar generation but there's only so much I can do! lol
Let's be honest, it's a nice problem to have!
Providing Eon with a photo showing the export reading on the smart meter is part of the SEG application process but you can only apply once you have your DNO approval letter and MCS certificate so there is inevitably a period you miss out on. However, I think the payments do start from the reading on that photo.
It's not the end of the world and as long as the process isn't stalling unnecessarily then "que sera sera". It's more of a marathon than a sprint.

@robski you can stop stressing, the moment the export register picture you sent was accepted you’re going to get paid for every unit exported - the MPAN being setup doesn’t change anything. Feel free to turn on the export taps :)

@Begall The taps are open. Haven't you noticed how the weather has turned since my export started being paid for? 🤣😂🤣😂
