Smart meter - how to change the time at which it switches over (Day to Day)?

    So as per this thread -

    https://community.eonnext.com/thread...e-to-next-day/

    I've happily been using the smart meter and the daily charge always 'reset' itself at @ midnight / 01.00 am.

    A few weeks ago, there was a power cut due to the storms (this happened at 0715, and the power came back at 13:15), so since then the 'change' then took place at @12:00-13:00.

    However this week we had another power cut - 12:30 til 16:15, and now the meter resets itself at @ 12:30.

    Question is how can I 'reset' the meter so the daily changes happens between 00:00 and 08:00 ?

    Note - I've done a 'unplug power from unit and power off' to no avail.

    Ideas ?

    Hi @Estoban The IHD (In Home Display) only displays the information that's on your actual meters. Contact Customer Services and see if they can remotely help you.

    Further to the advice of my esteemed colleague @WizzyWigg above, the IHD provides information but crucially does not impact billing, which is carried out remotely based on reading pulled direct from the meter, and not from the IHD. You can ask Customer Services to rectify the issue, which might be possible by remote instruction. But since the IHD and its information is not regarded by suppliers as key parts of the smart meter installation, they might not be prepared to do too much, if anything. Good luck!

    Well after lots of backing and to-ing, together with two more power cuts, which now means my meter 'resets' itself at @17:00, EON's helpdesk have come back with the following, which to me seems as a cop out to say the least, and on top of that they want 'me' to fork out £50 for a new meter (which, as it's not proven the unit is at fault, could be a waste of money).

    Thanks but no thanks - so I think I'll just have to stick with the app.

    Afternoon @Estoban
    Sorry to hear that CS wasn't able to help.
    Does your IHD have rechargeable batteries? Pure long shot, if it does did you remove them when you did your 'unplug power from unit and power off' ?

    @Estoban - Ignore what the IHD is saying for the moment (since as @WizzyWigg says it's just a repeater for the data values held on the meter itself)

    Go to the meter (in your meter cupboard) and scroll through its menus until you see the time it is reporting.

    Maybe take a photograph of this, and if the date's incorrect on the actual meter go back to CS and tell them it's the meter which needs the time updated ... It's nothing to do with the IHD which is working fine, and reporting the date showing on the meter

    They can probably send a remote update command via the DCC to correct this

    According to the Comms Hub tech spec, the Comms hub should maintain the date/time and pass this on to connected devices (like the IHD)

    In the interests of science I just power cycled my IHD to see what would happen (mine has an on/off button on the back which I pressed and held until it powered off)

    When I restarted it the Wi-Fi signal indicator was showing and the clock said 00:00 with the device saying "waiting for data"

    After a few seconds the clock set itself to the correct time and the meter consumption etc came up on the display, so I can only assume that the IHD had picked up the date and time from the meter/Comms hub when it connected

    @geoffers

    my IHD only powers up when I turn on the PC.

    i can confirm that my IHD does just as yours does.
    @Estoban The meter is not showing the correct time and needs to be reset by the sending of an appropriate command from Eon Next. Whether this is having any impact on billing is a different matter. What is the bright or Eon Next app showing in relation to recent consumption and the time of consumption?

    @Estoban

    you are saying the time of daily commencement changes every time there is a power cut seems to indicate that one part of the meter / communications hub is not correcting to the correct time after every power cut, which is proof positive of a fault. However energy companies insist that the primary purpose of a meter is to measure consumption and anything else is very much secondary. Therefore they will be reluctant to replace anything, as while there is no cost to you , there might well be to them.

    unless you are on a two tier tariff (E7, E10, drive) you may be up against it in getting anything replaced.

    Which IHD do you have? Is it anything like this one?

    If it is, does the time I've circled in red show the correct time of day?
    It might be an idea to pop up a photo of your IHD so we know what we are dealing with.
