I've recently moved to to Next Drive V7 tariff with a smart meter. The smart meter only shows my overnight rate and during the day it remains at that rate. Is there anyway of getting it to switch between the two rates at the relevant times.
@Andrew22 - I've been on NextDrive for 2 years and had exactly the same situation.
Having contacted EOn they only seemed to be able to load one or other rate, but not both.
However earlier this year I discovered that things had changed and the meter now has both rates, with the night rate displaying on the IHD at that time (though still not quite correct as the timing is actually set to 0:30 - 07:30 GMT - so in summer the change happens at 01:30 BST)
Luckily the billing is done correctly: from midnight to 7 local time (irrespective of BST/GMT) so the IHD/meter rates are pretty irrelevant
Clearly can be done, so good luck with your attempt
I do believe the IHD unit is not compatible with the Next drive tariff so you may not always be able to see both unit rates displayed.
@Indyk_EONNext : that's not quite right - I'm on Next Drive, and as I said above... As long as the meter has been uploaded with the dual day/night rates, it will show the "current active tariff" at any time.
The IHD is just a repeater for what the meter is showing, so will show the active tariff at the particular time.
Since EOn have chosen to upload the rate times at 00:30 to 07:30 GMT (not midnight to 07:00) the display changes at those times in the winter and 01:30 - 08:30 in the summer, though the billing is done correctly from midnight local time all year round
And it may be as long as the meter has been uploaded with the dual day/night rates but it's not a worry if the IHD unit isn't showing both rates as the Next drive is set to bill to the half hourly data which is set on the meter itself.

Correct in terms of billing. But the point of the IHD is so customers can see what their real time energy costs are, so if the tariff change is 1½ hours wrong it renders the IHD pointless
Not a problem for me, but a lot of users without this knowledge will be concerned that they are likely being billed to the meter/IHD display timings ☹️

Um, not sure I follow. The IHD just repeats the meter.
For reasons only they comprehend, E.ON have implemented Drive such that the meter is pretty much out of the equation as far as billing is concerned. The billing backend uses the 30 minute data.
The IHD, unless it is showing the day night rates at the correct times is misleading customers in two windows daily as to their energy costs at those times.
Eon Next introduced the drive tariffs, and also decided the peak and off peak timings, and also decided to bill on half hourly consumption data rather than readings, but apparently are incapable of sending a message to the meter reflecting those prices and timings.
it doesn’t inspire great confidence does it?
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and think the smart meter programme is a waste of our money. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
