IHD display of rates is wrong?

I had an Economy 7 upgrade to a Smart Meter 10 days ago. I've noticed that only one billing rate is displayed and it's wrong and is higher than my Day rate as shown on my recent non-Smart Meter billing. My Standing Charge is also wrong and I've taken account of VAT. I've also noticed that there is only one KWH usage shown and not one for each of the two rates. It displays the total as shown from my meter which is fine but not helpful if you are trying to control usage costs which is one of the reasons for the IHD display. Anyone else had this problem?

@DaiB - probably worth contacting customer services to get them to update the tariff rate on your meter.

As you know, the meter rate is only used to display usage costs on your IHD and does not get used for billing purposes.

I'm on the Next Drive tariff, and my meter does have two rates loaded but it only displays the current active rate. So I see the daytime rate in the daytime, and after midnight will see the cheap overnight rate.

Afraid I don't know how Smart/E7 meters are supposed to work, so hopefully someone else will be along with more advice 👍

Hi and thanks for the reply. I agree the wrong display should not affect my billing as the Eon website shows the correct tariff and rates but having an IHD that displays the wrong daily costs makes it a bit pointless.

    Hi @DaiB

I'm afraid the IHD does only show the total kWh. I take the total from the IHD and then take a reading from the meter itself, which for me shows the reading for the current tariff. Subtract this from the total and I've obviously got the other reading. It saves me from scrolling through menus on the actual meter.

The IHD displaying the wrong tariff is another annoyance of 'smart' metering. I, like others use the Bright app. You can see usage down to 30 minute intervals if this set on your account (you can change this yourself if necessary), you can also add the correct tariff rates in the app if necessary.

As @geoffers has said, Customer Services should be able to push a tariff update through for you to update the IHD.

Just for the benefit of others, and to prevent confusion ... They will push the tariff through to update the smart meter itself - the IHD is just a remote display showing the values held on the actual meter 👍
