I stopped being an e-EN customer on the 8.10.23 when I transferred to another energy supplier. Eon next have confirmed on the phone (Spoke to Simran 3 weeks ago) that they took a meter reading on the 9.10.23.
I received a bill a few weeks ago, yes we are in 2025!, for £139.
She promised to contact the billing department and to reply via email however I have received nothing since this date despite numerous emails, texts and letters from Eon with the same demand to pay the sum of £139.
I spoke to Abdul a few days ago, and have heard nothing again despite promises.
Since Ofgem back billing rules state I cannot be billed for amounts which are greater than one year ago and if it was not through the fault of the customer not providing readings (Eon had the readings) please can someone in Eon get to grips with this and cancel this bill please?
Best regards,
Mr.Rnic

Reason: Info to be added
So E-on have got back to me with this 'explanation':
The billing have got back to me now and have confirmed that the balance on the account is correct. Unfortunately, back billing cannot be applied. This is because the outstanding balance is due to the incorrect refund that was sent to yourself.
So E-on are saying because they sent me an incorrect refund I still have to pay this outstanding amount?!
Surely the fault is with them because they issued an incorrect refund!
Poor English from Eon Next. The balance on the account may be correct but that doesn't mean that they can bill you for it, after so long.
If they sent you a refund to you incorrectly, they cannot now back bill it. "Unfortunately" is from their perspective!
But I'd get back to them and say "As you acknowledge that the account balance cannot be back billed after so long, will you take action to to write that amount off, so that there is no possibility of the matter being referred to debt collectors?"
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and think the smart meter programme is a waste of our money. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
If your credit rating were affected then that would be separate grounds for complaint. I'd suggest getting screen shots from credit reference agency sites showing you ratings today, then you would have something to compare to later on.
