Yes! I have gotten away with a sim only contract for years as the other half always hands me down his old phone he renews his contract @Anasa_EONNext
But recently noticed my sim only has started to really increase and being with 02 for many years I think it may be time for a change!
ITs important to demonstrate to companies that consumers have the power to walk away. If more did it companies would become even more responsive to customers needs. It's what competition is all about.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and think the smart meter programme is a waste of our money. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
@Indyk_EONNext One other thing to consider is to make sure whatever you go for doesn't have annual price increases, often linked to inflation (RPI or CPI) plus a percentage.
The rules were changed by Ofcom this year, since they thought that people couldn't work out % rpi etc so needed complete transparency - hence suppliers added whopping increases: in my case the increase went from a few % to nearly 30% (£1.80ish) based on my current deal
I complained: they said that couldn't change the annual increase, but switched my base payment to a much lower value, so that plus the £1.80 wasn't much different from what the old increase would have been.
It definitely does seem a lot especially if you're not much of a phone user and it's only needed for emergencies. I think the best thing to do is always shop around and never get tied into a long term contract.

@Indyk_EONNext - did you decide on what you were going to do? I was looking into a new phone contract - but the way Apple bring the same phone out every September is a little off putting. Maybe if they make a big upgrade/design change - but at the moment, sim only seems the way to go, especially for the amount of data you get for much cheaper 😁
🌳Together we can work to achieve a more sustainable Future 🌳
@Indyk_EONNext there's that many now - it's a hard decision. If you have a Tesco clubcard - you could try Tesco mobile as you get a discount with the clubcard and money off if you have more than one contract (I think it's £2 deduction)
