Smart meter has stopped getting read, and a manual reading looks implausible

I have smart meters for electricity and gas - a Liberty 100 for the electricity, and Liberty EG4v10 for the gas. I'm on an achingly boring dual fuel single rate tariff. The electric meter is working fine, but the gas meter seems to have stopped sending readings. Here's my meter reading history:

    Date Type Read
    03/11/24 Estimate 2820
    01/10/24 Smart 2797
    01/07/24 Estimate 2760
    03/05/24 Smart 2722
    03/04/24 Smart 2683
    01/04/24 Smart 2681

They're all smart before that. The top of the page showing this has a shocked looking gas flame saying "It’s 50 days since your last reading.".

Is there something i can do about this? By which i mean, some way i can get someone else to do something about it, since i'm not about to break out the soldering iron myself.

In the mean time, i thought i would submit a manual reading. However, i'm not sure what the right reading is. If i go to the meter and press the 6 key, it cycles through various bits of information, eventually winding up with these two:

    IMP R01
    032046.48

From what i've read, IMP R01 means the amount imported at the first rate, ie my meter reading. There are IMP R02 and so on, and those are all zero. So my reading is 32046. But this is quite an increase from 2797! I can't believe that's actually right. That means i've used as much in the last 50 days as i would have in 162 years at the previous rate. Any idea what is going on here?

@TomA - this video at 30 seconds in shows how to read the Liberty EG4v10 gas meter
    • press button <9> and it gives the volume gas reading in m³

Sounds like those values are your electricity readings, not the gas!

Hey @TomA, Welcome to the Community 😁

Oh dear, the estimates do indicate a connection issue. Please reach out to speak to one of our Energy Specialists who will get this looked into for you 🌟

The above video is a great guide for reading your gas meter, Thank you for sharing @geoffers 😁

Thanks for the responses, everyone! That video by Peter from Secure Meters was spot on.

Having read a bit more, it turns out the first reading i had taken was in kilowatt hours, whereas i need the reading in cubic metres. Apparently some suppliers require readings in kWh rather than m3. Would have been quite a surprise if there were electricity readings on my gas meter!

Have sent an email to customer services, hopefully they will be able to wrangle the meter.

    @TomA

gas readings are always volume readings. The conversion of gas volume to kWh is rather approximate within the meter and indicative only.
