I have to admit that I've pretty much given up using the Bright App as it is not handling the Next Drive tariff correctly.

I can manually configure the rates and the times slots that they apply, but the Bright App keeps overwriting these settings with a "fromDCC" update which only includes the peak time pricing, so any cost calculations are wrong.

I have a similar problem with the Glowmarkt Smart IHD/CAD as it doesn't appear to understand the NextDrive tariff, and displays all consumption costs using only the peak rate, so any cost information displayed by the device is wrong. It does display the consumption data correctly so it's not entirely useless...

I raised the problem with Hildebrand & Glowmarkt Support a few months ago but never heard anything back from them πŸ™

@SeanGordon that's really strange since I've been using Bright for 2 years on Drive, and having set my 2 tariff override values I have never had it set back to the DCC value read from the meter.

However EOn recently seem to have managed to get the 2 tariff rates uploaded to the meter, so I found that by removing my own 2 tariff overrides Bright now picks up the values that are set on the meter.
I think your rate reset problem was caused because you're using their Glow CAD (since the display says "Tariff Source: Meter via Glow CAD/IHD" ) - looks like the App was resetting the value to the single one read from the meter by the Glow CAD. I don't have the Glow CAD so probably why this never happened in my case

Also EOn have apparently set the timings to 00:30 to 07:30 to correspond to E7 tariff timings, so the meter/IHD display and cost calculations will be slightly out, but the billing will still be OK since for drive they use the correct 0:00 to 7:00 Β½ hour slots for this

So on the meter itself I now see...

    • with the corresponding tariffs being displayed in the relevant time slots (subject to the E7 timings mentioned above)

@geoffers - Thanks for the detailed reply!

I think you've highlighted what the problem is with my setup - my meter only shows a single tariff when I scroll through the display.

I'm getting billed correctly by E.On so I assume either the meter rate is being switched as each rate becomes active, or E.On are doing something in the background to figure out what was consumed during each period.

This probably also explains why the Bright App and CAD display are showing incorrect pricing as they are relying on what is configured in the meter / DCC.

I'll get up early tomorrow and see what the meter says the rate is before 7am 😊

@SeanGordon You should be able to check whether your meter is now recording total kWh usage for both rates without getting up early (though you still need to in order to see the Current Active Tariff at that time)

On my meter L&G E470:5424 - if the meter is showing the "Rate 01 Act Imp" screen in the daytime, press and hold <B> for more than 2 seconds then press <A> and it scrolls to the "Rate 02 Act Imp" screen. This didn't used to work, but the meter seems to have been refreshed with the 2-rate settings.

I was originally the same as you, with only a single rate on the meter. But sometime in December it looks like they updated my meter with both rates (see this thread posting https://community.eonnext.com/thread...ll=1#post58978 ) - so things are now working as they should.πŸ€žπŸ˜ƒ

@geoffers - It turns out that my meter only has one rate configured, so that explains why the app and CAD display are not working properly as they are only seeing the 1 configured rate.

I suspect I need to wait for E.On to refresh my meter configuration info...

That's a bit of a bummer πŸ™„ - I was pleasantly suprised when I discovered a couple of days ago that mine seems to have been configured correctly now.

Don't accept "it can't be done" as an answer (which is what I'd originally been told). Might be worth mentioning that my setup is working properly!

Out of interest, what make/model is your meter? - Mine's a Landis & Gyr E470 type 5424, so if yours is the same it can definitely be done πŸ˜€

@geoffers - Mine is a Landis & Gyr E470 type 5533, installed in 2022 so I'd imagine it is an up to date model...
I'll keep an eye on the CAD and the cost display on my Home Assistant to see if my meter gets the right config loaded 😊
