Money was taken from my bank account on 2nd August. It is now the 6th August and the amount has not been applied to my account.
This is particularly annoying as I want a refund of the amount and my account is in credit and will be even more in credit when the money EON have is "applied" to my account.
There is no other company I know of that takes more than 1 day to apply a direct debit. Why do they do this?
Sometimes especially over the weekend, it takes a few extra days for the amount to show on your account. I would potentially give it a few days and then contact our Customer Service Team.
It will get added to your account as soon as possible, it will just be showing as pending on our systems until allocated. Let me know if you need anything esle.
Thanks

Evening @jacroberts I know what you mean. It can be frustrating. My DD was taken on the 1st and showed on my account this morning. Have you ever considered a variable DD? You'll use your credit up first. Once used from thence onwards you'll only pay for what you use via DD.
If tempted you'll need to contact Customer Services. Ways to do so can be found here: https://eonnext.com/contact
It usually takes a few days for a Direct Debit to show on your account, but it will show as being applied on the date your Direct Debit was taken from your bank account. I've found that payments often show on my account fairly late in the day, between five and seven p.m.
@jacroberts. If you contact customer services with up to date meter reading(s), you will then be able to request a refund of some or all of your account balance. However you should anticipate that the refund will take longer than you would like, perhaps 10 days, and your direct debit might be increased as the credit will no longer be there to offset future bills.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
@Lee_EONNext
With EON, it's the same issue every month. For other companies I have direct debits with, the money shows in my account less than an hour after leaving my bank account. Why is EON different? After attempting to get a refund, it seems EON makes it unnecessarily difficult. This is really poor practice by EON.
@jacroberts - what I've had to do to make make my EOn account balance is to move the date of the DD forward by 5 days, so it is taken out of my bank on that day but it's applied to the EOn account before the monthly account total is calculated ... to give a true picture of the EOn account
@geoffers Yes, but your direct debit will be withdrawn from your bank account 5 days in advance. It reaches their bank account almost immediately, but they take several days to "apply" it to your account. There’s no reason it shouldn't be applied instantly. The only reason I can think of for this delay is to make refunds more difficult for their customers.
My DD has at last been applied to my account. I entered a another new meter reading (that's 3 I've entered this month), then selected the "Refund" link, only to be met with:

Morning @jacroberts Gut feeling the error is because you are generating a new statement. You might be able to process a refund tomorrow. No guarantees though.
Alternatively you are better off contacting Customer Services. Ways to do so are found in the purple area at the bottom of the page.
