Make sure your meter readings are accurate by submitting regular monthly readings if necessary.
You could always phone customer service and change your monthly DD to Variable DD. That way they will use your credit balance first to settle your monthly bills and then they will only take a monthly DD of an amount to clear each bill.
You will still keep your DD discount but your DD will likely be higher in winter months and lower in the summer.
