Assuming you already have fully working smart meters and have your reading preferences set to half hourly reads, you should be good to go within a month. Apply now and hopefully you'll be good when the car arrives. Of course, if they get you set up sooner then you will already be enjoying cheaper off-peak electricity. Even when it is all set up, please be aware that your smart meter and IHD will not be able to provide you with accurate time of use billing and that you will also likely need to chase E.On Next for itemised monthly breakdowns of your billing as they seem to be unable to sort this as a matter of routine.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
@TAYLOROY The amazing @retrotecchie has answered your questions. Just to add, we can add the tariff the moment it's available and you meet the criteria.
Have you contacted customer service at all about the tariff?

How soon from applying for next drive does it go active.
Many thanks
Not sure where @retrotecchie got a month from - in my case I joined EOn from BG on the Next Flex tariff, then applied by email for the Drive tariff details which came pretty promptly.
Replied to that email by return and was transferred to Next Drive in a couple of days 👍
And how long did it take to get regular itemised monthly statements and for your meter to show correct TOU tariffs and for the IHD to show accurate costings?

That wasn't the OPs question - which had nothing to do with statements; tariff display or IHD costings - I was just trying to help him with actual experience (not incorrect assumption) with joining the ND tariff!!
