Hi,

I've just had a caller from "intuECO" at the door asking if I'd like to take advantage of the government's ECO scheme which supposedly offers grants to homeowners for replacement of old inefficient boilers (ours is a 32 years old Baxi Solo) which is past its best.

To qualify, you need to be on a low income OR be able to show prescription history for certain types of health conditions (only the latter might apply in my case, e.g. a form of asthma, and high BP).

The ECO scheme seems a little complicated and involves your energy supplier (EON Next) and your local council.

Does anyone have any experiences, good or bad ? What's the best way to progress an application for ECO ?

I've not looked into intuECO to be honest as they only seem to be an agency.

From what I can gather, it all depends on:

1 - My gas supplier (E.ON Next in this case)
2 - My local council

For that reason, I've sent an email to my local council asking about availability and eligibility.

I personally haven't heard of IntuEco, however you can find out more about the ECO4 scheme. I don't know if it covers boilers however it does cover things like heat pumps and insulation etc so it might be worth taking a look to see if you could be entitled to anything 😊
