I've just had a caller from "intuECO" at the door asking if I'd like to take advantage of the government's ECO scheme which supposedly offers grants to homeowners for replacement of old inefficient boilers (ours is a 32 years old Baxi Solo) which is past its best.
To qualify, you need to be on a low income OR be able to show prescription history for certain types of health conditions (only the latter might apply in my case, e.g. a form of asthma, and high BP).
The ECO scheme seems a little complicated and involves your energy supplier (EON Next) and your local council.
Does anyone have any experiences, good or bad ? What's the best way to progress an application for ECO ?
Hello @gazroobari It's great to have you here! I see @JoeSoap has pointed you in the right direction! To the IntuEco boiler scheme link Have you been able to look into this further? If so we'd love to know if you've been able to get the ball rolling! 😁

I personally haven't heard of IntuEco, however you can find out more about the ECO4 scheme. I don't know if it covers boilers however it does cover things like heat pumps and insulation etc so it might be worth taking a look to see if you could be entitled to anything 😊

Energy Company Obligation essentially requires energy companies to fund energy-efficient upgrades in homes. While it targets low-income individuals, as gasrobari mentioned, it's not exclusively for them. To qualify, one must receive certain benefits. For instance, pensioners with a high pension can also qualify if they receive Pension Credit or Pension Credit Guarantee. There are hundreds of installers who can perform numerous upgrades (heat pumps, solar panels, insulation etc.) for free in your home if you meet the ECO criteria, not just IntuEco. You can quickly check your eligibility for the ECO4 grant online. Just from the top of Google, you can check if you qualify for ECO4 Scheme here.
If you don't claim benefits but have a low EPC score of your home, you can qualify for free insulation under the Great British Insulation Scheme. Works similarly to ECO but has different qualifying criteria. You can check if you qualify for GBIS on gov website here.
