Reducing your credit balance
-
@JoeSoap - Sorry Joe, I read this post an thought you were asking about your credit and couldn't cancel your DD.

Ah, no... I was just checking it out to see if it worked as reported in the OP. I don't want to mess with my account any more... strange things can happen... like exit fees being applied 😂I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit. -
@Beki_EONNext @meldrewreborn
I just had to submit manual readings due to my smart readings not being taken (another problem 🙄) and I am now able to request a refund online should I wish to.
Edit… Ah, just remembered this thread is about cancelling the next DD and not about requesting a credit balance refund online. My mistake… sorry. I’ll check out the DD cancelling thing tomorrow to see if that works now that I’ve brought my meter reads up-to-date.
Edit again... Nope... still can't find how to stop next month's DD... not that I want to, honest 😂Last edited by JoeSoap; 10-08-23 at 13:52.

@JoeSoap Haha, your edits are very thorough! ⭐
There are 2 ways to cancel a direct debit; you can do this by contacting our Energy Specialists via customer service, or you can do this through your bank. 😊 Not that you want to... but the answer is there if you did. 😊 -
Correct, I don’t want to cancel my DD. I was just experimenting to see if what @meldrewreborn said actually worked.
What you have posted doesn’t tally with the email he received…

Edit… Yep, just checked an old email that I get every month to tell me my DD is due and it says clearly that if I want to cancel it I can do it in my online account.Last edited by JoeSoap; 22-08-23 at 12:54.

@JoeSoap I know and I took this back to the communications team and they've now corrected this going forward.
Another feedback win from our Community members! 🙌 -
@Beki_EONNext
So it’s the monthly email that’s being reworded not the introduction of a facility to cancel the next Direct Debit.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless. -
@meldrewreborn
I think I can see what's happened. I found one of the standard emails that are sent to us every month telling us our DD is due from a year ago. It says, ''If you want to cancel or change this month's payment, just reply to this email.''
Now it says, ''If you need to change or cancel this month's payment you can do this in your online account.''
It seems they now only want you to do this if you need to (not want to) and they have now directed us to our online account, presumably to save on manhours at their end. Whoever amended it clearly didn't realise there was no option to do this in our account. -
Morning @JoeSoap - hope you're okay 😊.
The email you've gone back into says 'If you need to change or cancel this month's payment you can do this in your online account.' Or the latest on DD says that?
Going forward it should only talk about changing your payment in your online account (which you can do 😊).🌍 Striving for a bigger, better and sustainable world!
