I've got a smart meter which was installed by the previous house owner.
Until recently, it appears this was not used as it was not installed by eon. However, I have recently started to receive daily consumption details on my eon-next app. Has something changed legally where energy companies can now share data ?

Thanks for an update
I think we all have the same misunderstanding about smart meters - I've only just found out how the system works..
This is my understanding ... Basically it's not your supplier who collects the data but a centralised database company called the DCC.
So depending on who your supplier is, it's the DCC who supplies THEM with your data, so they can bill you accordingly.
So when you switch supplier nothing much changes at the meter end (ok - your supplier details/tariff etc should get updated) except that the DCC and new supplier are linked
@geoffers Anasa here 👋 This is a fab post! Thank you for sharing! Every day is definitely a school day! 😀 Whilst you're here and I hope you stick around! I loved to know how you are getting on with your smart meters!
Have you found that you've saved much energy by having Smart? Has the smart meter helped you identify any energy consuming devices that you weren't aware of before? If yes, which ones and what action did you take?🤔 Have a fab day!

Hi @Anasa_EONNex
If you look at my recent posts on this board, you'll see that I'm getting to grips with the new dual rate EonNext Drive tariff.
The data available from the smart meters is very useful for seeing savings.
However this data isn't easily accessible from Eon itself. It's necessary to use third party apps such as the "Bright" app, and download the raw DCC data from their website (https://glowmarkt.com) to do a detailed analysis of the dual rate usage.
It would be great if Eon could actually provide the facility for download of the DCC metered usage data
