Solar panel adjustment to DDR

We had solar panels fitted by Eon in October and yet there is no allowance made for that in our DDR payment. We are now over £1000 in credit and not able to reduce our monthly payment by more the 10% of the ORIGINAL monthly DDR set by Eon.
This is maddening. Anyone know of a way around this without trying to speak to a non-existent whatsapp contact? -

Give them 48 hours by whatever method you properly sent a message to them. If they haven't got back to you then log in to your internet banking, (I know it's a faff; passwords and all that), and search quite hard to find where it lists all of your direct debit arrangements. For example, some banks have a tab "my payees" and then another tab hidden until you scroll down to "manage payees" and then you find a list which includes every biller including EON (mine couldn't do E.ON), and then you click on another button [manage] and do more passwords and stuff. Eventually, after that much faff, you can delete that payee and the direct debit will be 0.00 until you have agreed to set up a new one. If you are a thousand pounds in credit; more than three months worth, then don't give them any choice about this as they won't need paying for quite a while. With solar panels on the roof and careful habits ("sunshine looks nice for the washing line. today is washing machine day"), you can retime oven cooking and such to sunny days. I'm getting billed barely over £1 per day and half of that is standing charge.

That's great advice there @JoeSoap, we would always advise against cancelling any direct debits before speaking to an Energy Specialist as doing so could result in your tariff being changed. £1000 credit is an unforgivable oversight and more than I intend to use over the next two years. It would take years to use up that much credit, throughout which No Direct Debit is fair. If they decided that a punitive rate hike were letter-of-the-law allowable then do your own calculations to estimate how you've used up your credit at their usual rate as advertised at each Ofgem cap price notification (the last one was the price from 1st July) Beware; they named "direct debit discount" to mean "usual". You still work out your own bill credit at usual instead of at extra-expensive punitive rate, and if they disagree with you then they can take it to court and costs on them. An alternative, if EoN want you to remain on direct debit, is that they use your bank details on their dd system to send you all of your £1000 credit without delay.

Is it an oversight of the company or the customer? Maybe both! It's simple enough to contact customer service to request an adjustment to the DD but the OP didn't want to try WhatsApp. The advice was given weeks ago to simply phone them up. Presumably that advice was followed but we may never know. -

When it comes to solar and your bill there isn't usually a direct link if that makes sense.
You would just see a natural reduction in your consumption and then depending on what scheme you were entitled to, without checking lets imagine you have a SEG account, your payments are handled on a different account to the energy.
Let me know if you have got this sorted, this should be a simple discussion with customer services about reducing your DD and requesting the credit on the Energy account as a refund if you're eligible for that and meet the refund criteria.Have a solar related question?
