@Tommysgirl "There's a power cut in another part of the village, and we have to cut through the main high voltage cable, but we can't tell the difference between the main cable and the one to your property, so we might accidentally cut you off!' Well, if the power company can't tell the difference, what chance have we got?"
You're fine as long as you don't stand in a metal bucket full of water with your shoes and socks off, whilst cutting the cable. Some one in @retrotecchie 's pub mentioned that. 😆

That reminds me of when I went to the doctor with scalded feet. He asked me how it happened and I told him it was when I was preparing a tin of soup for dinner. He was incredulous until I explained that it said on the tin, 'Pierce can and stand in boiling water for 10 minutes'. 😂

@JoeSoap I've always advised people to allow the device to run down and then recharge, placing it next to the meter and switching back on, however in some cases this still isn't working.
I will speak to I.T again to see if there is anything we can do to speed this up or if something else is causing delay. My initial concern was is the message across customer service the same? is this human error or the software. We need to make sure the information being put out is accurate and the same, no matter who you speak to.
I had confirmation last night that either unplugging it and letting it run down will work or with the Chameleon IHD, hold the on/off button on the back but let go as soon as you see the screen coming back to life ( if you hold for too long and it will switch off again) For the Smart View hold the OK button and then select “Reset”
More investigation required from us is required and we are on the case.
