We have a new technical solution to help us install more Smart meters for our customers.
What is this new technology you speak of?? 🤔
It is called Alt Han and its a signal booster attached to the customers meter and a plug into the property to boost signal between meters and the IHD in the property.
What does this now mean? 👀
Customers who would have previously been either not eligible for a smart meter or the appointment would have failed due to 'NO Home Area Network' (HAN), they can now have a successful smart meter appointment and get those meters fitted! 🎉
I'll pop up a proper post with a little bit more information but thought I'd let you know first!

Not much use to @JoeSoap as its the meters that don't have the correct data.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

But what I expect the majority of punters (and especially @despairingcustomer) who already have smart meters but weak or no HAN signal will want to know is...
When is Alt-HAN going to be retrofitted to older installations with existing HAN issues?

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Hi for info my issue with Smart Meters and alt-HAN ended up with the energy ombudsman, apparently you guys have to pay me compensation and also fit a working IHD. When does the alt-HAN roll-out start?
@retrotecchie - re this "Especially as you have a Kaifa electric meter. Alt-HAN would need to be paired with Landis and Gyr meters" that's ok as the Ombudsman has tasked EON NEXT to install new smart meters anyway. So I'll just wait for alt HAN to become available and then EON can fit a suitable set of meters.
@despairingcustomer I'm sorry that it got to that stage but great that it's been addressed. I've asked the question to the industry performance team who announced that the alt-HAN would be available for new installs or existing ineligible for smart customers.
Hopefully they'll be able to get back to me with an answer, even if that's a 'not just yet'. Trying to get a date for these kind of things is difficult.
