Last Oct my Secure smets1 meters were migrated to the DCC and started doing their stuff for the first time in years. Come Jan 16 they stopped and haven't worked since. Eon haven't given me a satisfactory reason why and told me to just go back to manual readings. Does anyone know why?
If so, then your problem is likely related to an issue related to something called the BOL which meant bulk data sent to suppliers from DCC contained erroneous or 'blank' data. This problem started mid January and, I believe, may still be ongoing. Not sure where the problem lies but the issues seem to be 'industry wide' rather than supplier specific, so I suspect it's a problem at DCC's end...and of course, they are anything but transparent when it comes to letting anyone know anything.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
On the CAB site the electric meter is "not operating in smart mode" however the gas meter is. Also shows Eon doesn't actually support the electric meter. However, both meters have sent readings to Eon for about 3 months and these appeared on the bill as smart readings. Even Eon nexts own app showed usage until Mid Jan. Eon have stated the problem lies with the supplier and they need migrating onto the DCC to quote "smartify" them. Both meters worked using Hugo and Bright as well. ?
Update: After much chasing Eon to their credit have now admitted the Smart meters are not communicating as they should so they will send someone out to "power cycle" them. If no joy then they'll be replaced ๐๐
Fingers crossed, you achieve the desired outcome one way or the other. Every other electronic device I'm familiar with usually has a 'power cycle' option designed in. I cannot understand why anything microcontroller based like a so-called 'smart meter' can't have that ability designed in from the get go. Pulling the DNO fuse to power cycle any device is a bit brutal to say the least.
I now have TWO IHDs as they decided to change the gas meter even though Hugo and Bright were receiving data from 9/4/23 via the DCC but Eon weren't. I told them to leave alone and sort the data side out but they didn't listen Now nothing works anywhere at all and my two IHDs show totally incorrect rates and standing charges. Complete joke ๐
I have a complaint in process but heard nothing as yet.
Btw. Looking at the Eon next usage page there has been no data from the gas since the 5/5/23 and no electric since 24/4/23. I also think the Smet2 gas meter has now been commissioned for Eon only (hence Bright and Hugo losing data on the day of installation). Both Hugo and Bright show up to date electric.
I think I will have to accept they just don't work anymore ๐
