    Hello!

I just thought I’d pop on as we know that many small businesses are concerned about making enough sales over the Christmas and on top of that all the pressures on top of that such as high energy bills and it’s important that you don't suffer in silence and look at the support that is on offer.

Did you know that many small business are eligible for a smart meter? Which means that you will get accurate bills, and no estimations.

If your small business works with a Third Party Intermediary (TPI) or broker, please contact them directly to request your smart meter.

Here are 5 benefits of having a smart meter:

    A Smarter Approach to Energy

Smart meters are the next generation of gas and electric meters.

    Small Businesses Are Smarter

Small businesses may be eligible for a smart meter – ask your energy supplier or broker to find out what’s on offer for you.

Smart meters send automated readings direct to your energy supplier, saving your business time to work on other projects and giving you peace of mind.

    Goodbye to Estimated Billing

Smart meters mean accurate, not estimated, bills – meaning youonly pay for the energy you use.

    Making Bills Simpler

Smart meters send automated reads direct to your energy supplier, saving your business time for other projects.

Do Your Bit For The Environment

From the moment your smart meter is installed, you are helping create a smart energy system which could ultimately help reduce our carbon emissions as a nation.

HOW WILL A SMART METER HELP MY BUSINESS?

Smart meters could help small businesses save time by taking control of their energy use.

Smart meters send your readings directly to your supplier, meaning accurate bills and an end to time spent submitting manual meter readings.

As a small business owner, you know how important it is to make sure the small things run smoothly to keep your business going.

Smart meters help you focus on the big things by sending accurate energy readings direct to your supplier, freeing up your time to focus on your business instead.

Please get in touch if you have any questions or would like to see if you're eligible for a smart meter and one of our lovely Digi Specialist will guide you through.

I know some customers with smart meters (and some without) will say that they are unnecessary and often problematic, but for me as a domestic customer I'm very happy with mine on the whole. Now that SMETS2 meters are being installed it's taken away some of the previous problems encountered, like when switching suppliers.

The only minor issue I've had is the tariff data needing updating when prices change for whatever reason or when switching supplier but it was always easily sorted by sending an email requesting an update. On the plus side I don't have to go outside to read the meters and a glance at my In-Home Display keeps me informed of usage in kWh and cost.

Having smart meters also meant I could download and use the Hildebrand Bright App which shows my usage down to half-hourly intervals going back a year or more so I can see where the spikes in consumption are.

Personally, I wouldn't want to go back to normal meters but I do accept that they are not everyone's cup of tea.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.

@JoeSoap 💯 agree with you there! I choose to have prepayment meters I like to be warm and I like to know what I'm using and feel I can budget easier, I use to have to top up with a key every few days and it was so inconvenient with having a little one and having to be in work.

I also started to find that over the years there where less and less little corner shops that could do the top up for you or their machine was down leaving you in a bit of a pickle!

I never saw the greatness of having a Prepayment Smart meter and wasn't in a rush to grab one but then as I learnt more about them I realised they could actually be a blessing! and hunted down a supplier that could fit a PP Smart and it was the best thing I did honestly I can top up using my app, see my usage on the App. Also since the price hikes I've dusted off my IHD and it really helps to see what you are using and what you don't really need to use, makes you more aware of how the energy is being used in your house it's definitely saved us a few pennies! I can't imagine going back to key meters. I think it would be so useful for small business and one less thing to worry about I know estimated reads can be such a pain and sometimes you don't even realise until perhaps you move house and have a final bill peoples lives can get busy! 😊
