I charge my car maybe once a week and no surprise on those days I go over budget. What I don't need is the smart meter constantly telling me I'm over budget. I have set the alert to OFF but frequently find the display showing a budget alert instead of daily consumption.
Things are bad enough without being constantly reminded that I'm spending more than I would like to.
How do I stop getting these alerts when I've already set Alert to OFF??
On my IHD I go into Settings, then to Set Budget and then set the gas and electric budgets high enough to be out of reach of my normal daily usage. I change the settings depending on the season.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
that's fine as a workaround but defeats the object of having a budget set at all. I want to see how I'm faring against budget, I just don't want the alert in my face all the time. As I said in the original post it is set to OFF, so why is it even showing at all?
These things are mass market consumer items, designed by a bunch of geeks to cover as many bases as they can , to industry defined requirements for the lowest possible unit cost to the manufacturer.
Oh, that the end user can 'customise them' to do exactly what we want them to do!
I have no truck with IHDs or so-called smart meters, but can you set different budgets for different days? My central heating controller allows me to set different times and durations on different days. No point in having heating come on at 8am on a weekday when I'm out to work at 6am. Weekends, 9 is fine.
Do these things have any capability of telling them you boil the kettle more on a weekend when you are at home and less on the days you are out at work? Or different daily budgets on a day you need to charge the car?

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

I too don’t like my IHD flashing up that I’m over budget so I’ve done something about it. If it’s my budget then I know I’ve gone over it just by what it says on the display. If my budget is £10 and I set the IHD to £15, then if I see £12 on the display I know I’m £2 over budget but it’s not making a fuss about it. Works for me anyway.
@rogueelement This is from the Chameleon Technology website. I thought it was very interesting that it learns your usage overtime.
I wish they were more clever but they are just a general guide to your energy consumption. I wonder if there is an option to reset it which might actually turn off the budget alarm? Let me know if you try it!
Setting a Budget
Your display is set to a default budget. However, it is best for you to set your own budget to help you monitor and manage your energy consumption better.
To set your budget, press OK, go to SETTINGS and press OK, select SET BUDGET and press OK. Use the FUEL button to choose the fuel type and the CALENDAR button to choose the time period. Use the arrows to set your budget and press OK to complete.
The Energy Usage Dial on your Home screen helps you monitor your budget easily. You will hear an alarm when your budget has been exceeded.
Over time, the device will learn your typical usage and the scale of the dial will automatically adjust to reflect that.
Hmm... I've not dealt with the IHD3 much. Bear with me - this may take a while.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...
