Hello everyone! I hope that you're all well!

So I noticed that there has been a lot of questions around the Governments £400 energy subsidy and a lot of talk on how it will be applied and what it means to your payments.

    Direct Debit customers...

The deduction will be from your Direct Debit so for example if we normally take 200.00 from you each month, with the energy scheme we will only take 134.00 (66.00 reduction). The 66.00 will be applied to your account which will bring it back to 200.00 for you.

You should see this as a credit on your online account by the end of the week, if your Direct Debit was due at the beginning of this week you will have seen a reduction already. This also applies to those with a Variable Direct Debit you'll see a reduction in your payments and a credit in your pay history.
You are speaking to Anasa this evening your energy specialist.

    Pay on receipt of bill...

Customers and regular cash payment customers will see the money automatically applied as a credit to their energy accounts in the first week of each month. This will show as a credit in the payments section of their monthly bill.

If you have a prepayment meter...

The payment of £66 and then £67 will be applied in the first week of each month, this will go directly onto your meter if you have a Smart pay as you go or you'll be given vouchers to top up if you have a standard key meter.

Energy Bill Support Scheme payment will go onto your meter by the end of this week. You will receive a notification (just like you do when you top up) when it's updated." all payments should be updated by midnight on Friday.

If you receive a voucher you can choose to split the money across both fuels. If you have a duel fuel account and you have a smart Pay as you go meter then it will automatically be split between the two.

I hope that this makes it a little easier to understand!

    Have a great day ahead😊

@Anasa_EONNext I have a prepayment meter I have not received my October voucher and nobody seems to want to speak on the phone to explain

If you haven't received your voucher you'll need to contact Customer Services and ask them to re-issue it.

Of course, there is also the more in-depth guidance from eon next here…

I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.

One question that I haven't seen covered is when will the £66/67 be added to the customers' energy account?

My DD is taken on the 1st of the month so I would have expected to credit to be applied at the same time.

Just searched and found that Para. 5.24 of the document in the following link says it should be paid in the first five working day of every month. That’s if I’m reading things right.

    https://assets.publishing.service.go...-suppliers.pdf

Edit… That’s not for DD customers so will have to dig further.

Another Edit… Try Para 5.32. Seems to suggest the credit should be applied on the same date as the DD. What do you think?

Yet another edit… Para 5.29 may be of interest to you.

My electricity use is less than £66 per month and my account is in balance yet my DD has been set to £40 per month for no reason. . I've instructed EON Next to reduce my DD to zero for the next 6 months since the account will clearly be in credit with the £400 rebate. It is not for customers to lend EON Next their money interest free. All customers should note you control your DD and not EON Next.

if your DD is normally £40 then the amount actually collected for next 6 months would be zero, without you changing anything! It seems to me that the communication about how this will work is confusing customers no end.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

The original DD was around £60 then reduced to zero from 1st October then set to £40 thereafter for no obvious reason. If EON Next don't reduce it back to zero as instructed then I will delete the DD.

Thanks for the link @JoeSoap. I agree with your two suggestions and I'll add 5.6:

"Suppliers should aim to provide the EBSS payment to eligible customers on the earliest possible date within the scheme month for all customer payment types, except for Direct Debit customers, where the EBSS payment should be provided in line with the established Direct Debit collection schedule."

It is very clear that the credit to a customers energy account should be in line with the DD collection schedule. As my DD is collected on the 1st (excl. w/e) of the month then my eon-next account should have been credited, which it has not.

It seems that eon-next have fallen foul of the Government Guidelines already.

I really do not understand how this has become so complicated. Eon should simply credit everyone's account with the subsidy and then, over the coming months, allow usage to dictate whether your DD should be adjusted based on credit and / or deposit to bank account.
