Will e-on be reducing the fixed rate tarrif down to the new price cap for those who are currenly above?
Nobody knows for sure. They are under an obligation to reduce them by 17p/kWh for Electricity and 4.2p/kWh for Gas but no-one knows for sure if Eon Next intends going further in adjusting the v19 rates (or indeed v20 or v18) all the way to the cap.
I suspect that if you ring them up today they will still not tell you what is happening to fixed tariffs such as yours (and mine - on v18)
Surely they will adjust tarif by up to 17p/unity for electricity and 4.2p/unit for gas, but they are not obliged to go below the new cap rates.
But it would be useful if the company confirmed this so that we can make an informed decision as to whether to stick with an existing fix or abandon it in favour of the new Energy Price Guarantee. Whatever the outcome it's unlikely that we will be aqble to contact the company tomorrow!
If your rates are below the new caps, they will NOT be increased. :)
If you're already below the price floor, you'll stay as you are but you won't benefit from any further discounts - you'll still get EBSS though!

Everything screams at me that you are correct.
Unfortunately Eon have still not clarified what will happen to tariffs that, after the EPG 17p/kWh electricity rate reduction for fixed tariffs is applied, remain above the regional tariff rate for the SVT 'cap'. Guess we will find out soon enough whether they will actually go all the way to the cap or not. The folks on v20 (and to a lesser extent v19/v18) will find out soon enough whether Eon Next have been correct in their advice to them to stay on the fixed tariff rather than going to the SVT cap on October 1st. If everything has been set up to change account data in the early hours of October 1st I shall be impressed but I have the sinking feeling that HQ at Eon Next is in a state of febrile panic. Come Monday morning I will see what gives if indeed there have been any updates.
It is a bit strange that here we are, the evening before the Big Bang, after all our efforts and discussion trying to work out what is going on and trying to advise others, that we still don’t know.
Somehow I’ve managed to stay calm and not join the scramble to contact customer service. I can understand if some are doing a Blackadder and putting their underpants over their head, a pencil up each nostril and going wibble wibble wibble.
Maybe we’ll all laugh about it one day.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
I think i've figured out wher I'll be after the big bang. My fix tariffs keep their standing charges and my gas price shrinks a tiny bit. Electricity unit charge remains the same. I suspect that those of earlier fixes are the lucky ones, although our risk taking has perhaps not rewarded us as much as it might have - such is life.
It took about 55 years to get government debt down after WWII, and I suspect I'll be long gone before the current largess is repaid, if it ever is. Over to you kids and grandkids - enjoy!!
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
