Morning, upon testing my central heating before the colder weather arrives I’ve noticed that my smart meter is not showing any gas usage, plus my gas meter under the stairs is completely blank. I’ve tried pressing one of the buttons for 30 seconds to wake it up but it’s not having anything. What do I do next please!!??
It sounds like it may be a dead battery. I'm no expert but @theunknowntech is and by this tag hopefully will be along with good advice. It normally helps to post photos of meters, comms hub and IHD to help with any diagnosis.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
Gas meters are NOT mains powered so a dead battery seems likely. The batteries are "Claimed" to last 15 years, but clearly some of them don't. Some smart gas meters still have mechanical movements to measure the supply - others use electronics. To save battery power gas meters communicate less often than electricity meters.
But as there is the significant possibility that your consumption is not being measure at all and then will need to be estimated for the period of failure, the sooner this is reported for an engineer to swap the meter the better.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
Definitely sounds to me like a dead battery. I'll ask @Han_EONNext to try and pull a reading and pop a note on your account.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

Its also possible to be a component failure within the circuitry. It looks like your meter was only installed in November 21 and a battery should last a lot longer than 10 months.
Thanks for flagging this up guys - what a lovely space we are continuing to have. @Vinny69 I have sent you a email to your address linked to you energy account to get this looked into with you 😊, reply when you can!
