I have a working IHD3 and wish to replace it with a used IHD7 that I have acquired.
I have now read that In Home Displays are tied to the original house smart meter but surely there must be a way to configure our meter to talk to a the IHD7 instead of the IHD3?

From everything I read on here, if you want a new IHD then the only option you have is to buy one as per the recommendations in the above thread.
@theunknowntech may be able to advise further.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
@JoeSoap Thanks for that Joe
I have followed the thread you mentioned but it’s still fairly high-level
I doubt the eOn engineer uses anything very special to pair an IHD to the meter
It must use Bluetooth I reckon
I'll do some more research into the meter and it’s buttons🤨
Cheers
I'm sorry, but you can't pair a used IHD that's been used elsewhere. It's not allowed. You'll need to send it back for a refund. The closest IHD to the Chameleon IHD7 that you can buy is the ivie Bud.
Attempting to pair an IHD7 that you didn't receive from your supplier WILL fail. They are permanently bonded to the original install location and should never be taken from that address.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

I should also mention you're technically handling stolen goods right now. That IHD7 remains property of the supplier at all times and cannot be sold or transferred. It probably belongs to OVO, as I don't know any other suppliers that have given out an IHD7 yet
