Hi, I'm Soap... Joe Soap. Much to my wife's chagrin I'm no James Bond. I know it's a bit late to introduce myself but better late than never as they say.
I recently 'got my bus pass' having worked for a little over 50 years... man and boy 😉. Since retirement I still think I'm on holiday but I'm getting through the list of jobs... gradually. Actually, as I cross one off the top another appears on the bottom from somewhere.
I'm now in my second year as an Eon Next customer and all has been good so far. The only issues have been around smart meters and IHD updates but that's where this forum, or community, has come to the rescue in good time.
I have some time on my hands now, in spite of the list of jobs and many walks, coffees, drinks, meals out... oh, and relaxing, so I thought I'd hang around here for a bit to see if I could help out in some small way. I have no particular expertise in gas and electric consumption - except consuming and paying for it - but if can just 'sweep up and make the tea' around here then it gives the other volunteers a bit of respite and more time to help with more specialised stuff.
I may get things wrong but forum stalwarts will surely put me right. Every day's a school day.
Anyway... nice to be here and see you around. 😀
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.

Yes, 10.3p per kWh seems to be the anticipated price for the variable tariff. You'll also need to add on the Standing Charge, which is 23p per day in round numbers, so about £82 per year.
I would think that the estimate that you've had was based upon the expected rise to take place on 1st October, but using your numbers at the anticipated 10.3p per kWh, you would be looking at an estimated cost of about £1200 per year.
I tend to be careful with forecasting gas usage, I average it over a few years (easy for me as I keep a spreadsheet) because the severity of winter can make a huge difference if you have gas central heating.
You could contact customer service and challenge the estimated cost of your gas using your last year's consumption multiplied by the new unit cost from Oct plus the standing charge. As @Andy65 has calculated, this would be about half the estimated cost you have been given. As he also alludes-to though, we may have a harsh winter so some bit of extra estimate could be a wise move.
It's possible of course that the estimate you have been given will change soon anyway to reflect the change to the Oct price cap and scrapping of the Jan and Apr predicted rises, so you may want to sit tight for a bit. Things are going to take a wee while to sort out.
With the growth of the community we are so grateful to have members who support other members. Every little help is always appreciated it and makes a difference.
The only reason I'm here is because I'm panicking about the predicted usage and bills for the year ahead and trying to find out where to find summaries of previous years to compare which I can't seem to find within my bills.
