Hello everyone! I hope that you're all well!

So I noticed that there has been a lot of questions around the Governments £400 energy subsidy and a lot of talk on how it will be applied and what it means to your payments.

    Direct Debit customers...

The deduction will be from your Direct Debit so for example if we normally take 200.00 from you each month, with the energy scheme we will only take 134.00 (66.00 reduction). The 66.00 will be applied to your account which will bring it back to 200.00 for you.

You should see this as a credit on your online account by the end of the week, if your Direct Debit was due at the beginning of this week you will have seen a reduction already. This also applies to those with a Variable Direct Debit you'll see a reduction in your payments and a credit in your pay history.
You are speaking to Anasa this evening your energy specialist.

    Pay on receipt of bill...

Customers and regular cash payment customers will see the money automatically applied as a credit to their energy accounts in the first week of each month. This will show as a credit in the payments section of their monthly bill.

If you have a prepayment meter...

The payment of £66 and then £67 will be applied in the first week of each month, this will go directly onto your meter if you have a Smart pay as you go or you'll be given vouchers to top up if you have a standard key meter.

Energy Bill Support Scheme payment will go onto your meter by the end of this week. You will receive a notification (just like you do when you top up) when it's updated." all payments should be updated by midnight on Friday.

If you receive a voucher you can choose to split the money across both fuels. If you have a duel fuel account and you have a smart Pay as you go meter then it will automatically be split between the two.

I hope that this makes it a little easier to understand!

    Have a great day ahead😊

Just searched and found that Para. 5.24 of the document in the following link says it should be paid in the first five working day of every month. That’s if I’m reading things right.

    https://assets.publishing.service.go...-suppliers.pdf

Edit… That’s not for DD customers so will have to dig further.

Another Edit… Try Para 5.32. Seems to suggest the credit should be applied on the same date as the DD. What do you think?

Yet another edit… Para 5.29 may be of interest to you.

I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.

Ah ok. So you are on a good tariff with rates below the new EPG rates I would imagine. Presumably there has been no recent change to your tariff rates so I agree that as well as the £66 being credited to your energy account you would expect the corresponding reduction to your DD.

It can take many days to get a response from Eon Next at present although someone phoned them at 9am on the dot recently and got through in minutes. Good luck with it.

I wouldn't cancel your DD @CamillaCherrie, why not wait until your next bill? Your current credit (£12+£53, total £65) will be taken into account, so if your October bill is less than £65 your current credit will cover it and your DD should not be taken.

I really do think it's just a timing issue of your bill, the £66 credit and your DD date. If I'm right you're effectively just running a month behind those of us who pay by fixed monthly DD.

    they’re valid for 90 days.

Last month my direct debit was reduced by the £67, This month it hasn't my direct debit was taken (150). The £67 has been applied as credit to my account. The £150 has yet to be credited to my eon account despite being paid on the 1st? Confused

    Hi @vinster791

This thread may help but remember that if you're on the variable tariff prices went up by just under a third on October 1st, so that could affect your billing from October onwards.
Payments generally take 5 to 6 days to materialise in your account balance for reasons which I don't understand, so it should show in the next day or so.

@Anasa_EONNext I have a prepayment meter I have not received my October voucher and nobody seems to want to speak on the phone to explain

If you haven't received your voucher you'll need to contact Customer Services and ask them to re-issue it.

One question that I haven't seen covered is when will the £66/67 be added to the customers' energy account?

My DD is taken on the 1st of the month so I would have expected to credit to be applied at the same time.

My electricity use is less than £66 per month and my account is in balance yet my DD has been set to £40 per month for no reason. . I've instructed EON Next to reduce my DD to zero for the next 6 months since the account will clearly be in credit with the £400 rebate. It is not for customers to lend EON Next their money interest free. All customers should note you control your DD and not EON Next.
