Change DD Amount

    Hi there,

I have the Next Flex tariff and I have DD setup on my account. Up to Jan, I used to pay £29.00 monthly. My actual monthly bill roughly stays between £18.00 - £30.00.

Since then, my DD amount went up to £49.90, but my bills still remain around the same £18.00 - £30.00 figures. At the moment, I have a considerable amount in credit, which is good, but it means that almost £50.00 is being taken from my account every month and potentially half of it is not used to pay the bill of that month. I could be using this money somewhere else.

I tried to reduce the DD amount on my account, but it will only allow me to reduce up to £44.99, which is not really that helpful. I don't think consumption in my household has gone up that much.

Is there any way to reduce the DD amount?

    Thanks in advance.

The online system only allows a 10% reduction in the DD. You need to marshal your facts and contact customer services.

You are entitled to ask for your credit balance back and to set a new DD going forward based on estimated consumption times current prices. However prices under the price cap will be increasing, possibly to 50p per unit in October (no that's not a mistake fifty pence) and fixing now might be a good idea.

@eclf Anasa here! 👋 Welcome to the Community! @meldrewreborn is correct you can only reduce it by 10% online. Your Direct Debit is designed to build up a credit during the summer which will prevent a higher increase during the winter months.

Best thing to do is to give us a call and we can have a chat about your payments and the best way to go forward to make sure you're covering your usage and of course any money not used is better off in your pocket, we do review your Direct Debit annually and at that point any credit will be refunded back to you but if you do build up a large credit or what to discuss your payments just get in touch and one of our Digi Specialist will get you back on track 😊
