There doesn't seem to be any definite answers as to what is Rate1 and Rate 2. I think it can vary. I would take a look at both readings and go and boil a kettle or two and see which one has moved on.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
I have been waiting some time to reply to you as you are obviously au faite with technical issues (compared to Eon staff - but that's not saying much!). The first thing I want to ask you relates to the meter time switch code . Mine is 826. That doesn't seem to fit in with your table of data. Eon operative tells me that the off-peak times are 11pm to 7am, but I have limited trust in what they say. Anything question: rate 1 and rate 2. Which is day and which is night? The former resident of my bungalow (now deceased) put a scrap of paper in the meter cupboard stating 'rate 2 is day'. I don't think that is right, but I wait to hear from you. One final question relates to the clock in the meter. Is this always GmT or does it change for BST? Actually the clock is about 25 minutes slow - could this be accounted for when I tuned the power off to change a light switch? Did I say that was the final question? I lied! One more - defiinitely my last - I want to change my Economy 7 meter some time for a single rate meter (preferably not a smart meter). Have you any recommendations of how to go about that? Thanking you in anticipation.

There is no standard relating day night to R1/R" unfortunately - observation is the best way to tell - which register increases by day and which by night.
Clocks can be either regular time or GMT - the Time switch code is supposed to tell us. The clock will not be affected by you switching the power on and off - think of the confusion when there are power cuts.
All meters are now smart but you can have the set to operate in dumb mode if you wish.
Current Eon Next and EDF customer, ex Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
Is the meter you are referring to a non-domestic meter? The 826 meter time code refers to an industrial, business or commercial meter rather than a domestic one.
It is quarterly billable, non half-hour recording meter with time switch (either RTS or Sangamo mechanical) with separate tariff rates for evenings and weekends. How those rates correlate to economy 7 times I don't know as we would need to know the two digit region code from your MPAN number. But it's not a normal domestic E7 meter. I can tell you that for definite. Rather than peak/off peak same every day, it has one rate for weekday daytime and the other rate is weekday evening/all weekend, but if it has RTS, then the switching pattern is entirely down to the DNO, but as things may have changed with your DNO since 1996, it's a bit hard to say for sure.

I wrote to you before but you didn't respond. Let me try again. Taking up your point about the meter time switch code: my is 826, which doesn't fit in with your table. When I telephoned Eon - the operative had to go away and ask - but returned and said my off-peak hours were 11pm to 7am. But there is a problem here - well actually two problems! Firstly my statements, referring to the off-peak, state 'weekends/other'. This suggests a day time period over the weekend which are off-peak. That would marry up with my second point: I go to bed at 6pm most days and I cannot understand how my off-peak consumption is almost equal to my peak consumption. What on earth am I consuming at night without my knowledge? If it turns out that part of the day time during the weekend is also off-peak, then that would make some sense.

I surprised that Eon entertain this forum. It seems to me everyone is p----d off. I wonder if you can help me. I wrote to meldrew a while ago but he didn't repond. I would recommend you to get in touch with our Energy Specialists they will be able to double check everything for you and can check you have the correct Time Pattern Regime (TPR) set up on your account they will also let you know your peak/off-peak times. The best way to check which of your readings is day and which is night is to take a reading during the day and continue to use everything as normal, 1hr later take a further reading the rate that moves will be your day rate.

May I inform you that volunteers on the forum reply when they are able to - we're not on call/duty.
It seems from @retrotechies post that you have a business supply and that explains a lot. Hopefully now you are able to move forward with getting things changed. Only you will know whether a business supply is appropriate or nor. Business supplies are not regulated by OFGEM and tariffs are not subject to the price cap, nor were they eligible for the £400 government support through the winter months.
Our ability to help does often depend on being given accurate and complete information from the outset. Hopefully you will agree that that was not the case here.
Incidentally is you supplier EON or Eon next.? There is a difference.
