Recently I came across this thread 👉 50Hz Wibbleometer 👈 and it really got me asking questions and learning a good few things 🧐. Well, for starters I got to grips with what you'd need to know a frequency for and how to measure them (I mean, the grip is still in the early stages 🤣 but its certainly there!). But it got me thinking about how important knowledge truly is, and the power and impact knowledge can hold 🤔.

Within our Community, we see an unbelievable amount of knowledge out there across our members and I am often memorised by what goes on in others brains 🧠. I learn more and more from all of you each day 😊 (that is the honest truth! @Actual I actually printed something out to see if I could find a trail from my ink...turns out you can!).

I wanted to open up a discussion surrounding our own personal knowledge and wanted to make this a place where we can all discuss our thoughts, lessons, opinions and all the interesting things we know ✨. I am talking about everything across the board - perhaps you know something about clothes others don't? Lets chat about it.

I'll kick us off, beer 🍺 is the 3rd most drank liquid in the world! (behind water & tea of course)...

Going back many many moons beer 🍺was drunk with breakfast lunch and dinner simply because the water was so contaminated with all nasty things. There wasn't the sewage systems we know today.

Did you know, there is only one station name on the London Underground network that does not contain any letters from the word 'mackerel'?

It is also entirely possible to speak for over a minute, clearly, concisely and lucidly and never need to use a word with the letter 'a' in it.

Servants in London used to demand that they were not served lobster - because it was the cheapest food available at the time.

At the RAF museum in London some of the toilet flushes still have the trade name “Crapper” on them! Man are they old!

It was the invention of the flushing toilet (replacing basement cess pits) that led to the great Thames stink in 1858. The waste went now into the sewers and thus in to the Thames.

@meldrewreborn It wasn't really until the sinking of the SS Princess Alice that it was realised something had to be done about treating the sewerage.

The letter W is the odd one out in the English alphabet.
It has 3 syllables whereas all the others have just 1.

Talking of lobsters @meldrewreborn did you know lobsters taste with their feet as they have the equivalent of taste buds in their pincers. They also chew food in one of their 3 stomachs, as their teeth are in the stomach.

Topsy turvy! Everything we see is upside down! Experiments in the late 1980s using special spectacles to turn everything the right way up were carried out. Some very interesting results were produced on the ability of the brain to relearn and adapt. It was interesting when the spectacles were removed!
