ivie and EV tariff
-
I am on the EV tariff which offers reduced rates at night but my ivie shows my night-time consumption (00:00-07:00) at the day rate. ivie have said this what the supplier has told them when they pole the smart meter. Does anybody else have this issue and is there a way to remedy?

@FrankMcG
this doesn’t affect your billing. Contact customer services and ask them to send a tariff update to your meter - might take a couple of days to become visible.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and think the smart meter programme is a waste of our money. Chronologically Gifted. Afraid the above response is incorrect (unless you get lucky with your particular meter) - I've been through all this myself 🥴
Unfortunately EOn can't (or won't) update 2 tariffs onto the meter - mine's an L&G E470 type 5424.
They updated it with the night rate when I requested it (but it didn't also have the day rate as well), and they reverted back to the day rate when I changed tariff.
The rate on the meter is what you see on your IHD to provide (approximate) usage costs, but it is not used for billing purposes.
The only solution so far is to download the Bright/Ivie app, which allows you to override the single tariff rate it reads from the meter with the 2 correct day and nighttime rates 👍Last edited by geoffers; 3 Weeks Ago at 18:27.

Then you can ignore the IHD & use the app on your phone to view your costs 👍 -
@FrankMcG
Apologies if I got it wrong! But it seems a bad failure of the system if a two tier meter and IHD combination cannot display the tariff properly and compute costs appropriately.
I thought these were supposed to be SMART meters. -
This thread has got me scrolling through my meter's display registers, which previously I'd only been able to view the Tou1: "Rate 01 Active Import" register
However re-reading the user guide and trying a different variant of button presses, I've actually got it to display the Tou2: "Rate 02 Active Import" value
...but none of the other register values (48 ToU slots etc) showed up when cycling further through button presses
The manual does state that the meter should show the "Active Tariff Price" (ie the one which is in use at the current time) but I must admit I've not yet got up after midnight to check if this is showing the cheap-rate - I think not 🤓

Blow me - the initial screen shows the Tou2: Active Import screen
Scrolling through screens to the current active tariff price
And "yes" - the IHD does show the same active tariff price at this time
So the meter has clearly been uploaded with the two rates and knows when to display the relevant rate.
However I still have my doubts as to whether the meter/IHD calculated costs based on the day/night tariffs are correct - have never actually checked when I've charged the EV but always felt it looked a bit high, so just assumed it was probably using the daytime value in the calculation.
So maybe this is why Bright app and @FrankMcG (the original poster's) IvieBud only pick up the single daytime rate - maybe the call to the meter to get the tariff(s) is only returning one tariff rate which gets used in cost calculation 🤔
Some further investigation required....Last edited by geoffers; 3 Weeks Ago at 05:57.

I reckon that with developing the new Drive Smart tariff EOn have actually learned how to correctly set the ToU tariff rates on the meter
I just checked Bright and removed my manual tariff over-ride:
Lo and behold - Bright now picks up the two ToU tariffs from the meter correctly 🤓
This didn't used to happen before, so clearly the meter has now been updated with the correct settings and this probably explains why my scrolling through the values on the meter itself never used to show the Tou2 screens
Result....👍Last edited by geoffers; 3 Weeks Ago at 06:32.
