How do I do that ,have switched it off for a while but to no good
Did you unplug your IHD or just switch off? How long was did you leave the IHD before switching back on?
Here's a long shot that might be worth trying if you haven't. Unplug your IHD. Leave until batteries go flat, (normally takes 4 hours plus). May be leave over night. Tomorrow move IHD as close to your meter and comms hub. Plug in and switch on. 🤞It might take a while to connect if it's going to.
Afternoon @Bjfish Just to clarify. Is it your actual meter that is not working? When you go to it to take a manual reading is the screen blank? Or is it your 'In Home Display' that isn't functioning? If the first option you will need to contact Customer Services.
Chances are the meter itself just needs to resynchronise with the external network and to get it's mojo back. Once that happens, hopefully the IHD will then play nicely. Depending on the models of the meter and IHD, these things do happen after power cuts.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
@Bjfish Which IHD do you have? If uncertain it might be worth popping up a photo. Also have a look at your comms hub and note the HAN light. Is it lit, what colour, is it flashing or still?
And see what the WAN light is doing too. Several folk have noted that with certain meters, the HAN connection is disabled if the WAN goes down. I seem to remember one of our learned members (@geoffers, IIRC) had this scenario with his meter. The HAN and WAN are supposed to be independent and isolated from each other, but this is not the case with some brands of meter.
@WizzyWiggidh3 is what I can see not tech minded ,all 3 lights come on then flashing wi fi symbol and no data will try turning the smart meter on near the meters outside tomorrow if not I will phone eon about it thanks for your help
@Bjfish
....that the HAN connection is disabled if the WAN goes down. I seem to remember one of our learned members (@geoffers, IIRC) had this scenario with his meter.
👍...that was just an observation on the one and only occasion I noticed the IHD had briefly lost communication with the meter : it reconnected shortly afterwards.
However there have now been several posts on this forum with people who's IHDs have lost contact after a power outage (one person even having 2 non communicating IHDs if I recall)
EOn's stock response is the IHD is at fault, but my suspicion is that it is the registration of the IHD's GUID with the meter which has somehow been wiped, and if this can't be reset remotely it would probably need an engineer visit to reinstall the IHD's settings.
