As you know my first ever smart meters were installed last week. I've signed up the bright app which I quite like .
But cost information (not accurate) has been added for periods back pre the millennium, with data for each month which looks closely related to the number of days in the month.
Initially it was only for electricity, but now gas has been added too. I'm just wondering what conceivable benefit this is supposed to be to customers.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
From a statement I've received my the current ratio between gas volume in cu metres and kWh is to multiply the Cu metres by 11 (eastern supply area).
but from the IHD the relationship is under reporting by using a ratio of only 10.5. Is there any way for Eon Next to push through to the meters a more accurate conversion factor?
I don't think it helps people if their IHD is displaying costs which understate their level of consumption.

That sounds a bit weird - my data on Bright goes back to June 2022, which also matches the csv data download from glowmarkt.
My smart meters were installed in July 2019, and I first installed Bright at the end of July 2023, so I guess the first time I downloaded the csv data it would have picked up 13 months worth of data from the meter prior to that (which equates to June 2022)
The best that gas can ever be is an approximation thanks to the variability of the calorific value. Electricity is always going to be spot on as a kWh is always a kWh.
You might find that at different times of the year and different sources and quality of gas that your numbers go the other way. I'm guessing the 10.5 figure in the IHD is the typical 'average' and likely evens out over the course of a year.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
The gas calorific value drifts a little, not a lot - so a more representative value could be computed. I don't know though how the calorific value varies by region, which might make life more complicated!
