If they don't have your bank details then they can't take the money. I'm beginning to wonder what tariff you're on. If it's a DD tariff where you get a better rate then maybe the system assumes you have a DD in place and the amount is what it would have been set at when you signed up. This problem seems to come and go for you but it doesn't seem to affect anything.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
It's been constantly there since January, apart from a week when it disappeared. The direct debit amount shown is double what I pay on average so there's no relation.
It's just the annoyance of a badly maintained website
Ah ok, thanks. So it's not a 'DD only' tariff. It's very odd. I would suggest contacting customer service but if they manage to get rid of it there's no guarantee it won't come back again. I would probably just live with it for fear of worse happening to my account if I pursued the matter.
