UK weather experts have predicted a 250-mile wall of snow stretching from London to Newcastle.

The snow is expected to settle later in February, with temperatures set to plummet as the UK braces for an icy blast. Some weather watchers are even suggesting it could be a second 'Beast From The East', although the snow isn't expected to last that long.

WXCharts predicts snowfall as early as next week, following a surprisingly mild January - which even saw record-breaking highs of 19.6C on Sunday, January 28. The latest maps suggest the wall of snow is due to start in Scotland as early as Tuesday before the blast hitting Newcastle, parts of Lancashire and Cumbria, North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Manchester by Saturday, February 10.

Oops… this afternoon I accepted Flo’s bet of a week’s worth of coffees in the pub that it would snow next week. I said it wouldn’t. We live between London and Newcastle so it looks like I may have lost already and will be buying the coffees every day. Thing is, I buy them every day anyway so she cannot gain if she wins so can only lose 🤔 so why did she make the bet? There are some things man will never understand 😂

I think the media have kind of blown this up a little since, although we were admittedly in an extremely mild southerly airstream: the actual high temperatures recorded was a brief period caused by the foehn effect

The air rising over the mountains initially cools slightly, losing its moisture as it condenses. Then it sinks on the other side of the mountains and the now dry air rapidly heats as the pressure increases, with the rate of heating being up to 1⁰C per 100m of descent.

So this heating anomaly is actually partly due to the laws of physics, rather than climate itself.

This reporting is straight from the Daily Star I presume? Their headlines each day can be guaranteed not to have any correlation to the MSM, and their preoccupation with boffins and the weather is very silly.

Sorry @meldrewreborn but isn't from the Daily Star it's from a combination of reports including Met Office. Looking at the Met this morning. It's isn't far off from being a possibility. 😳 You being nearer to the equator might escape but no guarantees 😂.

PS My seaweed is generally pretty accurate 😂.
