I have 3 live phases to my board but only 1 phase used for my house at the moment. I have installed a 10mm cable to my new garage/office. Is there any way I can get a three phase meter without a business account? Scottish power confirmed I have 3 phases I can use and enough capacity. I’d like to be able to use a 3 phase welder and other tools.

Yup, this is possible and can be done for domestic accounts. You'll want to discuss this with whoever your current supplier is as a meter upgrade will be required to go from a Single-Phase Meter to a Three-Phase Meter. It costs somewhere around £325 to do this. If you let them know you want to do this upgrade, they should take care of it.

Nice. In that case, go for it! The exact price can vary depending on the supplier and if any other work is needed, but you probably got lucky in this case. As long as you keep within 100A per phase, you should be good to go. :)

But if you go over the 100A per phase... Something might go bang...
