I was already on an app that charged from midnight to 7 am at the cheap rate, which was simple and worked without problem.
The new tariff and app have been a nightmare to set up and It has still not been explained to me how the app is supposed to work after numerous phone calls and almost 30 emails backwards and forwards from Eons "Innovations Team"
The whole point of the new app and tariff was that you would be able to charge at certain times of the day at the cheaper night rate as long as your car and charger were compatible.
To date however I have not been able to find any period during the day when this cheap rate is available.
If I plug my car in during the day then app still tells me that the car is "unplugged" but the car starts charging anyway. There is no indication of at what rate the car is charging on the app and my charger shows about half the charge coming from the grid and the other half from my storage batteries.
This obviously drains my batteries and means that I have to pay the full rate anyway later in the day once they are depleted.
There is a charging schedule included in the app but the latest "Leave Time shown is 11 am. I can only assume from this, that the cheap day rate charging can only operate between 0700 hrs and 1100 hours?
No explanation is given as to how you will be billed for this cheap daytime use or how you will verify that these savings have actually been made?
I appreciate that this is a pilot app and I am only too pleased to help with it's development but to date have been left completely frustrated in trying to get it to operate.
I have phoned Eon numerous times but their normal Customer Care team are unable to answer any questions on this "specialist" tariff and when I asked if I could speak to their Drive Innovations team, I was told that they were too busy to make outgoing calls.
Very disappointed with this new tariff and it would appear that it hasn't been thought through fully before being implemented.
A fuller explanation of how it is actually meant to work would be nice rather than the vague conflicting explanations that I have received to date
