Is smart v4 worth it?

@geoffers I completely agree it's really down to your own usage and circumstances what might be a great tariff for one person could be the wrong tariff for another - that's why it's important to know how and when you use the bulk of your energy so you can make an informed choice based on your own needs 😊
Yes, very true, but as far as I can see, the Smart tariff only works for the following 2 edge cases:

    1. Get home after 07:00 to plug in and get a cheap charge before 11:00

    2. Need more than 50 kWh in a single overnight charge (200 miles...)

So yes, shift workers and very high mileage drivers would see a benefit but it's not a great mainstream proposition at the moment.

@rwh202 I think you could be right there. I do remember when the pilot first started on one of the EV tariffs in the beta testing invites (now don't quote me that it was this tariff as it may not have been) we were looking for people who had high usage so that could make sense!

I think it's good to hightlight all of the options and we do have lots of different kinds of tariffs available and even though someone has an EV it might be that a standard tariff is better for them rather than an EV tariff it really depends on the individual household.

I always say don't compare your usage or tariff to Dave down the road unless you have the exact same appliances, set up and use your electricity at the same time and in the same way then your bill won't be the same!
