Are the drive tariffs not compatible with Kia EV3?
I’m new to this. What is it exactly about the car that needs to be compatible? Don’t you just plug it in to the charger? How does the electricity network know what the car is?
I don’t need to check a new toaster for compatibility with the electricity network.

The standard Next Drive tariff works for all cars, with cheap electricity between midnight and 7am.
The new "Drive Smart" tariff needs to communicate directly with the car to give you extra cheap electricity in the daytime, but unfortunately the Kia doesn't have the necessary connectivity to work with this tariff.
@geoffers I was thinking that may be the case. The Eon next support told me all EV tariffs were essentially smart.
What info does the Drive Smart tariff get from the car, out of interest?
I guess that they must be pushing the new Smart tariff but were wrong : I've been on the standard Next Drive for a couple of years, and can't take the Smart tariff as my car isn't compatible either.
From what I understand the new Smart Drive tariff controls all the charge scheduling via the car, by connecting to the car's internal 4g SIM card. Any charge schedules already set on the car have to be cancelled and I think the EVSE (charge point) itself has to be set to "charge immediately".
So when EOn decide they've got some cheap-rate electricity in the daytime they contact the actual car and tell it to start charging, then to stop when the cheap leccy is no longer available (or the car itself will stop when full, or any preset max charge limit is reached).
