That's up to you - but its not a course I would take. You do though need clarity from Eon Next. If they are saying that the back billing rules do not apply, then they need to say so specifically and point out where the rules allow them to do as they are trying to do.

Even if they maintain their position, you should wait 8 weeks and take it to the Energy Ombudsman, or earlier if you can prise a deadlock letter from them.

In regards to your final bill I can confirm the amount due on the account of -£139.94 is correct.
On the 8th of October 2023 you left to go to another supplier, On the 9th of October your new supplier confirmed our smart reading as 4873.6.
Before we had received a confirmed change of supply read, the system automatically sent you a final bill of £182.39 as a repayment. Once we received the confirmed change of supply read we re billed the account to £139.94.

Further to our conversation, the bill is a back bill issued from 5th Sep 2024 - 27th Jan 2025.

So to sum up: They have raised a complaint which will be reviewed in 3 days. If there is no resolution within 8 weeks it goes to the Ombudsman.

As far as I can see at the moment nothing has changed. They have sent me a back bill in 2025 for energy usage when I was a customer of Eons back in 2023. I shouldn't have to pay this as it's over a year and they have had all the readings they wanted (they have confirmed this) up until I moved supplier.

@mihailolja All of this should be included in your resolution, this will come after we have fixed everything we need too. Now without seeing the account, usually what happens is it will be handed off to the back billing team, I've seen these take about a month to be worked, it's a very busy group of people who work these. It's something that needs to be done by specialist people. Until that team advises it does or it doesn't meet the criteria would be tough to say, again without seeing the account.

Either way, we will get this resolved for you, I can see @Poppy_EONNext has sent you a DM, so she will of course oversee this from a Community point of view and hopefully explain, or double check anything you have been advised. We've had some issues today within the Community so she will respond to you asap, we're not technically a customer service platform, however we will of course help you.

You sent me contradictory messages yesterday.

First Simran stated in an email that this was not a backbilling issue then when I spoke to Eirun she said the opposite and I have this in an email. I have absolutely no confidence that Eon are capable of resolving this and am awaiting the 8 weeks to pass before it goes to the Ombudsman.

Also what will happen to these late payment charges you are issuing whilst the complaint is ongoing? Am I going to get more and more late payment charges or will these be put on hold?

Trying to force the issue isn't helping as you get some information which appears to support your case along with statements that this isn't back billing. Best to let the complaint run its course, which will, I'm fairly certain, come down in your favour. If not off to the ombudsman.
