St David's Day is celebrated on March 1st to honour the life of St. David, the patron saint of Wales. It's a day to celebrate Welsh culture and identity 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The day is celebrated by wearing daffodils, dressing in traditional welsh clothing, eisteddfodau (a competitive festival of music and poetry in Wales) 🎵, parades and eating lots of welsh foods! 🍲




In light of today being St David's day I thought it would be fun to see how many famous Dave's we could name 🧐
I will start..

Sir David Attenborough - his work has helped raise awareness of environmental issues and inspire action to protect the planet 🌍 His works also tackles deforestation and the inadvertent harm to wildlife due to human activities 💜

David Lloyd-George- former Prime Minister (The Welsh Wizard);

David Jason- actor (best known as Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses, Pop Larkin in Darling Buds of May, and Inspector Frost);

David Beckham- Footballer;

David Mitchell - Comedian, writer and actor (WILTY, and Ludwig);

David Niven- film-star;

David Tennant- actor, (Dr Who, Broadchurch, etc);

David Gower-England cricketer;

David Hockney-artist;

David Starkey-historian;

David Bowie, and David Essex- singers.

David Roberts CBE - Paralympic swimmer and one of the most decorated paralympians with 11 gold medals to his name.
David Emmanuel - Fashion designer who created Lady Diana's wedding dress.
The Edge - from U2. His real name is Dave Evans.

I used to have my Sunday breakfast with Davy Jones, back in the 90s. After he retired from the music scene, he bred and trained horses just outside Wickham in Hampshire. My then missus was the cook at Wickham Tea House and used to do the breakfast shift on a Sunday morning. We had to share one car back then, so I'd take her to work at 8am, have a full English breakfast to get my day off to a good start and then toddle off to my job for 11am. Davy Jones was a regular on a Sunday morning.

He was also a licenced amateur jockey and won his first race, on Digpast, in the one-mile Ontario Amateur Riders Handicap at Lingfield in Surrey in February 1999.

He also played Ena Sharples' grandson, Colin Lomax, in Coronation Street and appeared in an episode of Z Cars.
