Unhappy Query

    Dear EonNext,

I'm very disappointed with the service since changing over to tariffs from pay as you go tariff and I am considering changing my energy provider.

Since moving on to new tariffs, I have no idea via my Smart Meter what my ongoing costs are until I get a statement via my online account. Therefore, having a smart meter is totally pointless for me.

    Let me explain.

When I was on pay as you go I could see daily and monthly what I am paying, so could budget accordingly.

I have contacted Eon several times to get sorted with my statements so that they match my smart meter and I know what my ongoing costs are. Each time Eon states they have sorted this but they have not.

For example, I have just had statements through for Gas & Electric bills as follows as we speak:-

    15 Dec 2024 - 14 Jan 2025 GAS = £74.83
    01 Jan 2025 - 14 Jan 2025 ELECTRIC = £22.62

I was very surprised to see this.

My smart meter for the period 1st January 2025 to 18th January 2025 as I type this, shows as £78.62 for both Gas & Electric. I had no clue I was getting a Gas statement for the period 5 Dec 2024 - 14 Jan 2025.

Why did I not know this, because I specifically asked an Eon customer service rep on a few occasions to make sure that my bills matchup and I am billed for both my Gas & Electric from the 1st to the 31st and then I am able to pay the bill for that period each month at the beginning of the following month.

What I have ended up with is bills for Gas from 15th to the 14th and bills for Electric from the 1st to the 14th. It doesn't make sense. I cannot keep track of my costs and my smart meter does not match up to these bills.

Instead of looking at my Smart Meter for example on the 31st of the month and thinking I am going to be paying for example £120 for both Gas & Electric for the period 1st to 31st, instead I'm totally confused as I'm getting bills for different periods for Gas & Electric !!!

I'm totally perplexed why the Eon rep would set it up like this. Makes no sense and my Smart Meter is pointless.

Please can you get this sorted for me as a matter of urgency so that I can see on my smart meter what I am actually paying daily and monthly and that it matches up with my statements for the period 1st to 31st.

Beggars beleif why they feel a customer would want statements for Gas & Electric setup for different periods !!!

Hey @discoveranother welcome to the community 👋 It sounds like your billing schedule may be set up on different dates, this can sometimes happen if the supply start dates or dates the meter was updated are different for example if we got your electricity on the 1st but your gas didn't come on supply until the 2nd then your billing schedules may be set to different days.

This is usually a really easy fix and our energy specialists will be able to sort this for you. It can take a few days to update so if it's close to your bill date then you may have to wait until the next statement before you see this change.

I would suggest contacting an energy specialist and asking them to update your billing schedule for both fuels to the date that you would like to be billed and they will be able to complete this for you. You can find all of our contact info on the thread How to Contact E.ON Next I would suggest WhatsApp as this is manned 24hrs, it's not live chat but will save you waiting until Monday 😀

Thank you for your prompt reply.

My only concern is I've asked them to do this 3 times !!!

Not sure why they would think having separate billing dates for gas and electric would be pleasing to the customer.

Thank you, i'll try for the 4th time, this time via Whatsapp.
