Update on replacement Alt-HAN plug-in device?

    Hi there,

    Back at the beginning of June we received an email saying we needed to unplug our Alt-HAN device (supplied by you) due to a possible safety issue, and that someone would come round to collect it and we would get a replacement in 6 to 8 weeks time.

    Someone popped round to collect it a couple of weeks later but we have heard nothing since, and it's now been 6 months rather than the 6 to 8 weeks the email said for a replacement.

    Any chance we could get an update on what's going on here?

    There was nothing wrong with your doofah as long as you didn't plug anything into the pass-through socket.

    It's now vanished into a black hole, never to be seen again.

    Alt-HAN is a bit like our new Labour government...all promises, but mostly unfulfilled and actually leaving people worse off than they were before.

    I've received no response at all since confirming account details via PM 4 weeks ago.

    Is this something you can help with or do I need to be raising a formal complaint?

    You'll need to complain!

    Alt-HAN is a busted flush and won't be rolled out en masse any time soon. The last figures I saw from the Alt-HAN company stated that they (or rather, Lands and Gyr) have only been able to make around 2000 of the devices since the original ones were recalled. Out of 700,000 installations that would benefit from them, that's a pretty lousy 0.3%. By the time they manage 5%, the current smart meters will be obsolete anyway and possibly replaced with something completely different, I'm willing to bet.
